I have so many questions. Why was animal control called in the first place? Who called them? Did this happen right in front of the house where the dog lived? I wish they had not blurred the video because it makes it unclear what the injuries to the dog were. Does animal control wear body cameras? It didn't look like the dog was given much chance to walk. The control stick cinches around the dog's neck, and the human controls how tight. He was probably suffocating. I can't imagine why the injuries to his mouth were necessary. Makes my stomach sick! Did the "officer choose the job so he could "legally" torture animals? I don't believe for a second that dog tried to bite him, unless he was provoked.

There was a "neighborhood dog" in the block I grew up in in the 60's -70's. The Dog wasn't mean or aggressive, but wasn't friendly either, and tended to stay to itself. I'm guessing it survived on food scraps found or neighbor handouts.The Dog was seen around often, and then all at once seen no more. In doing my paper route one day, I saw the Dog had passed away, laying in an alley.

Look up the Animal Welfare Act on US government site. The document is an easy read and shows the guidelines written by veterinarians in the 1960s. All agencies can fefer to this for decisions to be made in regards to enforcement and consequences to be made law in their communities.

You know, the guilty party here is the owner. If his dog were fenced in his own yard, he wouldn't be able to make people wonder whether or not his bark WAS worse than his bite. The officer didn't correctly guess the dog's intentions. It's a lot like assuming that the gun pointing at you is loaded and the safety is off. So many people are mauled and killed by "barking" dogs whose owners ALWAYS claim that it must be the victim's fault that their totally loving dog attacked them. He never bit me, response is of little comfort to the women who lost all four limbs and her face. Or the mother of the dead kid who was attacked by someone's lose pet.

The dog was loose on the street and tried to bite someone. The dog injured himself by biting the catch pole, which is minor. If the owner is unable to control his dog, he should give him up. Dogs are dangerous animals and kill people yearly, mostly children and the elderly. I love dogs, but I am not real concerned that the dog had to be dragged to the truck. Without being bitten, how would you get the dog in the truck. Dog bites cause infections and can be horrific.

@@sueb3581 Just because the a few neighbors love the dog, that doesn’t mean that the dog could not be dangerous. I have witnessed first hand so called docile dogs tear people up. I have had big dogs all my life and have never had one bite somebody, but I would not take the chance for them to do so. Dogs have very sharp teeth and even getting a tooth caught on a body part can be horrible.
