Maybe is Ms. Harmon was talking to the actual delivery driver, this could have been avoided. Delivery services have back ground checks on the drivers for a reason. If the person showing up isn't the person that it should be, you have no idea if they are a criminal or not. I am a strong believer in 2A, and this driver may have had the gun for protection against criminals, but a dog this size isn't a life or death situation. Mace or something like that is plenty to deter a dog attacking.

It’s also weird she’s fixated on the fact the delivery person is not who (as in gender, perhaps even color) they said they are. Maybe her dogs were trained to go after a perp of a certain color and gender and that’s why she’s conflating the two separate things together? I think it's important to keep in mind that the delivery driver doesn't have a platform like Angie does to tell his story. He's not a celebrity and probably doesn't want his private life upended & possibly tarnished for trying to speak out about this situation. We haven't heard his side of the story and we don't have security footage. We only have Angie's testimony, which is just one side of the story. She's experiencing some raw & powerful emotions over the grief & mourning of her dog, which is understandable. But for that reason, we can't say for certain that her testimony is the objective truth of what happened that day.

Unfortunately, that happened to her dog, but I can't believe the delivery person just came up saw the dog and shot him. I am sure she has video surveillance on her property but there is no video of him just driving up parking, coming out of his car and just randomly shooting her dog.! Some people refuse to understand, you know your dog a certain way but a random stranger does not. Also that dog looks like a pitt! The fact that the police did not charge him says a lot. I’ve had a few deliveries/visitors over time mention they’ve never been greeted by chickens before, but they are normal people who don’t pull out a gun upon a smaller manageable situation. My hens always assume every human probably has a treat, they are not the smartest. This was one of those situations where it wasn’t a blood thirsty wolf of a bobcat or bear….but a pet….the man had a choice to run and get back in the car if he felt so worried.

As a paperboy, I was attacked by a large dog. I was a small boy, and the dog tore me up! My paper bag probably saved my life. Since then? I've had several dogs attack me in random activities! A lot of people here have clearly never worked a delivery job. Although my stance on weapons is why own one, i can understand why people carry one. Amazon has you put delivering at 330 in the morning. Other instances of people being carjacked while working delivery gigs. The lady that was shot by the old man the other week who was driving for uber. Etc...there are soooo many risks to the delivery apps. And for the question, well it was a dog, and?? I feel awful for her, I do. But it is up to her to keep the dog safe. We love our pets but we keep believing everyone does or understands a good dog from a bad dog. She keeps talking about it being a man vs a woman, why does that matter honestly? Instacart warns you when the driver is leaving the store, how far they are from you, even if they are pulling up to your home. So much time to put the dog away for a 3-minute interaction. You can put in special delivery instructions as well, like, dog on-premise, friendly but if it's an issue just leave the bags by the gate. She could have done all of that and she didn't. Dog owners can be blind to the fears of others because they believe the dog is safe. Clearly, he felt in danger. I don't think this man has any history of delivering packages and shooting people's dogs. She is looking to everyone else to blame but it is her responsibility. This is a tragedy

(2) The man has approached Angie Harmon’s residence with a gun on his person. Why would he have a gun? Was it conceal carry? Is it a dangerous neighborhood? (3) The man killed the dog that belongs to Angie Harmon. He alleges that the dog attacked him first. Could it be possible the dog merely approached the stranger? Has the dog ever had a history of being violent? Things that are left unsaid and seem suspicious: (1) The woman who was the account used for INSTACART that Angie Harmon was communicating with, has she been found? Does she exist or was an account made on INSTACART with someone else’s identity? (2) Is it possible that this is a case of an INSTACART shopper being murdered or robbed and their phone taken and being used to communicate with the buyer in this case Angie Harmon? (3) Did the man who ended up approaching the house and killing the dog have the groceries that were bought on INSTACART in his car? Was he actually the INSTACART shopper?

1. If you know you are expecting a delivery, secure your dog. Far too many delivery people are bitten by “sweet, innocent, completely untrained” family dogs who are not properly supervised or secured. 2. If you are a delivery driver and you see a dog out on the property, don’t even chance it. Take a picture of the dog, cite safety concerns and just drive away. People will eventually learn to secure their dogs for the safety of the dogs and other people if they continually have to pick up their own packages.

I have a question. If Angie ordered a food delivery - she would have known when the delivery would happen - within a few hours. Why leave your dogs outside when you know a delivery person is coming. Doing so is unfair to the delivery driver and all of this could have been avoided. ALWAYS put your dogs away when you are getting a delivery. Both are at fault. Owner is expecting delivery, put the dog up until the delivery arrives. Dogs do not behave the same to strangers coming into their territory. You are asking a stranger to enter the dog’s territory then respect that and secure your dog. The driver should have texted and said, I’m here if you have a dog, or plz put your dog away until I’m out. It’s respect and courtesy on both sides. We are too caught up in convenience and get everything done fast today.

Ok, this is a terrible event, and I feel so bad for Angie Harmon and her family. It shouldn’t have happened. Period. And from this report, I have my doubts about the delivery person’s story. However, there is a real danger to postal workers and delivery people, and many have experienced injuries and frightening encounters with dogs which can cause them to be very wary of strange dogs. That’s not a excuse for what this driver did, he had many options besides killing the dog. Still, IMO the homeowner also has a responsibility to protect their dogs as well as people coming on to their property for legitimate business. Provide a place for deliveries where unleashed dogs can’t get to so everyone can remain safe.

Excuse me you're talking to an instacart shopper for over 5 years I have dealt with this for way too long and what the man did is wrong do you understand because what I do is if I see a dangerous dog that's about to attack me a backup and go back to my car and then I called the customer from my car and tell the customer put your dog away or your order will be canceled it's just that simple I've dealt with this for way too long what the man did was wrong not only was he wrong for shooting the dog but he might be a scammer she said she was talking to somebody named Merle but then he showed up what the heck is that all about instacart needs to investigate not only him but anybody else that might be scamming shoppers accounts or something what the hell is that all about
