Arizona Bighorn Sheep Translocation to Utah

This project moved bighorn sheep from a mining town in Arizona to Antelope Island in Utah to help grow a bighorn sheep population there. Arizona Game and Fish Department, Utah Department of Natural Resources, Kuiu Conservation Direct and many other organizations partnered to make this project a success.

I would like to offer a recommendation. If you don't already, please relocate the ones on the Estrella mountain ranges. The Gila River Indian Community Members can hunt them on east side of the range near laveen, and they do. I have seen images of 3 or 4 hanging in the carports of some of the hunters there. My wife is a member of the tribe and she was looking to hunt a Ram there years a few years back but I reach out to you (Game and Fish) and asked about the population on the range and when i was told about the very low number of breeding rams that were counted on the western side of the mountain range we decided not to contribute to their demise. They also informed me that the sheep in that range are basically landlocked there. With no real wildlife management on the reservation i fear they will dwindle down to unsustainable levels there. Tell people to slow down sheep a head. It the people fault by having accident with sheep. Sheep don’t go 100 mph. Did d you guy’s ask us the people about the transfer of the sheep or other Arizona critters. Because we the people support the fish and game by buying hunt and fishing licenses.
