As a NorCal born and raised transplant, I would add to my list ... THE FOOD! AZ is way too obsessed with franchise and fast food. CA has so many diverse options and great mom n pop joints on every corner it's astounding, and I really miss it. But that's about all I miss.

Restaurants suck in Chico and great in Scottsdale. And restaurants suck in Nogales and great in SF. To lump all of CA and all of AZ into one box seems silly.

No, I plan on moving due to financial reasons. I think a large majority don’t care about politics if their day to day is struggling due to cost of living. Weather is what’s keeping me away the most but 50% off on cost of living is too good to pass up.

That was my original reason for moving. Especially when starting a new family, you can find a much better living situation and cost of living out of state here in Phoenix than you can anywhere in CA.

I moved from San Jose to Phoenix in 2004. I was getting nervous about climbing house values and wanted to buy for 70% less in Phoenix for less risk. It took me a little while to figure out the climate here, but I learned. For years now I walk 2 hours a day, mid day in summer and don't even carry water. I love it. It is different. Most people remove clothes so I see tank tops, shorts, flip flops and they're cooking in the sun. I cover up. Loose cotton clothes, long pants, long sleeves hat with neck and sides of face covered. That low humidity does it's job so sweat evaporates fast so I'm not dripping sweat. The evaporation make the temp near skin about 85F instead of the 110F air temp. Sun directly on skin is in the 120-130F range. Shoes with thick soles help to. Keeps your feet off the 150F pavement. The sun becomes addictive. I'm planning to move to SE Asia and my biggest concern is rain and clouds. But I'll adapt. It's what humans do best.

I'm from IL and DC. Moved to Nashville and they hate liberals here. Best just leave your politics where you left them. Else it really does turn into the place you left. People really are friendlier too. Rule of thumb would be just vote they way they vote if you do want to live here.

True dat but who needs an ocean when we got lakes... Alamo, Lyman, Roper. We need to turn the state blue. We got Hobbs in there and this can be a Cali 2.0 real soon! Nothing much to miss there but the ocean and 4 seasons but you'll get used to the mild winters here. Sell the house and get a near mansion here. Cooler weather up north, prescott, flagstaff. You don't have to burn in Phoenix. There are options. Cali folks take note

Enjoy because more they build more its hot over populated water is like gold and becoming rare because of the extended drought monsoon is not a thing anymore high risk of wild fire here the quality of the air is awful during summer time who stat s in april and end in mod october with 110 to 120 and don't hope for relief at night because it will not happens . And it is right the prices skyrocking gas property taxes housing groceries make arizonians unable to keep going as they used too. It is a desert area too much buildings and asphalt harming this beautiful desert and the wildlife too and i don't talk about homeless camp and a high rate of criminality.

It is a bit on the outskirts, and not known for being the nicest of areas in Phoenix. It is more rural with some open land, but the houses are fairly run down there. It has plenty of land, and it is not a hot spot for builders to be buying anything there

That's mainly the natives because that's all they have known. The sun has burnt many brain cells. But I find those who have migrated here they are more open and liberal minded. I see more and more California transplants settling in newer construction homes. It's not far to those who need to travel back to cali, it only takes us a few hours to go back towards SoCal
