Arjun Reddy - A Masterclass in Film Making

A mise-en-scène analysis of Arjun Reddy, discussing the craft of the film. Arjun Reddy is often described as a "bold film", a "misogynistic film" but it is hardly acknowledged for the masterful usage of craft in the film.

Wish movie reviewers have 10 percent knowledge of yours. I have never seen print or other media dissecting/so called critiquing something like this. I want the so called movie experts to say what's good and what's bad on these lines so at least we can learn or translate what the director intended to show. Thank you for this video. Thanks for making this. It is much needed for people to understand this masterpiece of art. When I watched this film I intensely fell in love with it because of its narration and editing techniques. As a photographer, cinematographer and editor, I absolutely love the way this movie was created. A lot of my friends and family hated this movie. Despite the controversy, I think if you look at this as an art, it immensely excels at all the aspects that makes this an extremely good film.

The one-er that you talk about from 3:31 - 5:18, that is a concept that is used extensively in video games. In games, the camera is interactive and controlled by the player, so there are no cuts unless there's a cutscene playing. By making a cut, the game would consciously be removing player agency, which makes it immersion-breaking. This has become such a vital aspect of the player experience that recently there have been games where the entire game is a single uncut take, like 2018's God of War. Even the cutscenes don't have cuts (ironically). You truly become immersed as a spectator as you follow your character throughout their adventure.

We need more people like you, these subtle things that you talked about aren't noticeable when you watch the film but nevertheless add to the genius of the film. Also my favourite shot is when they close the ambulance door(carrying his grandmother) and it cuts to close up of Arjun zooming back to his full shaven look sitting in his home. Sandeep reddy vanga’s ultimate weapon is Harshavardhan rameshwar! Alias Rami! . He uses that ultra talented person very well in his movies for his the best background score work which sandeep himself monitors how work achieved to the level he is expecting. Yeah sandeep also once told that there are calculations about in a scene how many times we can pan in and out so that viewer’s eyes won’t strain. Beyond that strains and ultimately viewer looses interest in watching movie. He takes those cares and he calculates timelines for emotion ( highs) where it should be placed so that people still remain engaged. And he proved it Arjun reddy. And i noticed after he saying about these details. And we didn’t even feel bore after watching such a lengthy film and i hope we feel same engaged when we gonna watch animal for sure. This vanga man is very different

That's a huge topic to discuss. Even films like Fight Club got negative views for the anti-societal themes, but later it became a cult film. There's this film called Bonnie and Clyde, it was bashed badly by all the critics except Pauline Kael, who held the film and helped it revive and that film started the New Hollywood, when directors started taking control and films like Godfather, Taxi Driver etc were being made. So that's the kind of role a critic can play in a film industry and it's tough for people to unanimously accept such films with radical ideologies, especially when they are popular. But what happened with Kabir Singh, some people behave like people who like the film are themselves misogynists. That's why, I think, Sandeep Reddy Vanga and even Vijay Deverakonda got so pissed off.
