After watching other players build pvp bases and test things out myself, I combined those techniques and made it into this Advanced PVP Building Desing Tips&Tricks.So you can see similar techniques here as at other players. Like the fence foundation technique to create multiple layered wall I picked up from Razius Gaming at his base fortification video.

I have a server up and running with some settings that make ARK a true survival game. It is running Off-line protection, Stacking, Stargate teleport (Admin placed), and Corpse finder MODS. XP 20, 3X Gather, and 10X Taming. The wild Dinos are adjusted to be very strong. You are welcome to hop on and see how you like the settings. I would also love your feedback. I knew about how to make the foundations lower and found out how to stack the foundations, but it never occurred to me to stack metal foundations to strengthen my base. I can't really do it to my current base now, but, as I expand I'll be doubling up the foundations and double/tripling the walls. Plus, your corner trick with the pillars is awesome. amazing video, really good job...but there is one concern i have with this sort of base: cant they just blow up the fence foundation and all 3 walls are gonna break ??? i mean when they got threw the ramp

the fence foundation only supports the inner wall of the 3 outside layers. So they need to blow up the foundations first in order to reach the fence foundation, but then again, if they blow them up, the walls keep hanging there on the ceilings, so they would need to demolish a lot of foundations in order to get the ceilings collapse

Hey Fresonis. Love the videos! One question I had for you was in your triple wall setup, will a rocket do splash damage to the 2nd and 3rd wall when striking the outer wall. I realize foundations dont have the health of a multiple wall setup but they do provide some standoff distance so I was wondering about this? Thanks again and keep up the great videos! Also side note I was wondering if you could create a separate playlist for your building videos so it's easier to find them all in one place since you have so many videos it would create less searching!

Hey Robert, thank you for your comment. I know that rockets do splash damage, but I don't know if they do it on layers behind a wall. You can test it in single player and quickly build it and shoot. But I dont know. Sorry. About the building playlist, I thought I had a playlist with the building videos...

Yea you can make double ceilings without space, with the help of the fence foundation, so you get a lower snappoint. also make a multi layer roof, like I show in the 3th episode of this serie ;)

In the case of the "new" pillar trick, I was wondering if placing the fence foundations to make layered walls. Can those fence foundations be used to place the walls AND corner pillars? Like place the Metal Foundations, layer them, then place the thatch foundations to make snap points for the metal fence foundations (like at 5:00), then place the walls, layer them (like at 5:25), then the ramps to protect the foundations (like at 6:49), then the pillars? I wanna know if the metal fence foundations placed to make multi layered walls can be used for the corner pillars at the same time. I play on the championark servers and pvp is more like the UN, we have loads of rules and stuff so I actually have time to harvest the mats, and comfortably build this on pvp.

Would this design still work if the "flooring" was made out of pillars and ceilings? I am trying to build in the underwater bubble on the Center map and I cannot place a 6x6 anywhere down there as the ground is not flat enough or I simple cannot place anything in that specific area. Of course I would find someway to protect the flooring in some other manner. Or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

when the game will let you place the ramps on more snapepoints, than its maybe possible. I had problems placing them. most of the time only 1 snappoint, because all other snappoints are obstructed. I really don't understand why the game does this, obstructing while there is nothing that can obstruct the ramps

I already know the 3-walls tips, even I saw 4-wall mounted, using fences in external foundation, but then, you won't demolish the external foundation... This is your own choice. Any way, the double or triple foundation it's a great tip!!! The base looks really protected, and the external protection with ramps and pillars at the corners, avoid to know how many layers have your base. Try to raid this, would became in the endless raid, layers after layers... But, it's posible to do a similar fortification with ceilings?? Regards mate!!

When I try doing triple walls with stone, the wooden planks on the walls make a big ugly gap in the wall. Is there no way to make it look better?

If I try to extend my triple wooden foundations, they will always snap to the top foundation no matter where I place them. Because of this I can't place foundations under the top one, so the triple foundations seems impossible.

You should first lay a foundation down, then a pillar in it, that gives a snappoint for a lower foundation, then extend that lower foundation 1 more time and put a pillar in that 1, then you get a lower snappoint again. use that snappoint as your lowest foundation and build the floor for your base. then use the second height and last the top foundation. so you should have the 3 snappoints not in the the middle of the base but on the outside of the base floor. I think that will make it easier to work with it.

and indeed once you have placed a foundation higher then you like, then there will be no room for 1 under it, it will say it's obstructed.

I suggest you would do a pillar on every tile where normally 1 foundation would be. Then box the pillars in, like I do on the outside for the plant X space. double layer pillars wont help, as I also shown in a suspension bridge tutorial where it looks like the pillar is connected and supporting but it isnt. So I think boxing the pillars in will be a good idea and I don't know if you can close the gaps between the hanging walls and the ground, otherwise you should use my fence foundation trick: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6LPnaKiYp5-qrc

yea you can place fence foundations on ceilings and create the same thing is on foundations. if you have snappend them on the fence foundation, place the one on the normal snappoint. under the ceiling you can now also snap a wall at the same dept as the fence foundation wall (if possible) because it connects to the wall on top of the fence foundation

so i've been trying to make a triple layer foundation out of metal for a while, but for some reason there are spots on my build where it just wont let me place a second lay of foundations.. whats up with that? also what do i do if i cant place thatch foundations all around the edge of my build?

Sometimes the ground is too high or low, that's why you get problems with the foundations. if you can only place thatch at some places, just connect ceilings to that foundation, first extend one to the outside, then to the left or right and then back to the base again. Then you know how high that ceiling has to be and you can see if it snaps to the correct height.

mm i see, well i'v more or less fine with it, there just a few spot where i had to put ceilings to level it all out as it just won't let me put more then one or two foundations there. My other question i have now is can i put the triple lay roof on before i put in the quad thick inner wall? dont really have the meta to do both atm

I've been trying this on PS4 but sometimes when placing the lower foundations it will just pings to the top snap point once it has been placed, even if it was snapped to the lower one before I clicked the place button. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I thought maybe they had just patched this out but it worked perfectly on some of the foundations.

Ive come to the conclusion that it is the lag that makes it snap to the wrong position. Its often flickering between the two snap points as you are lining them up, you think you are hitting the "place object" button when it is where you want it but the game is (sometimes) a few milliseconds behind so it ends up in the wrong place. My advice is to try and line it up so it flickers as little as possible and/or when it seems to settle in the right spot for a brief time, as to mitigate any lag throwing the snap points off, then place the object.

Also, if a foundation does end up snapping to the top point you may as well demolish it because it is much harder to place a foundation on the bottom once you have one on the top. Much easier to place one on the bottom first then the top, even if it is quite fiddly.

The ground dipped and got to far away for the foundation to reach. I put second layer lower and leveled off the top with ceilings.

Fresonis... Hi there, So I adopted your design idea and bumped up to a 10x10 (regretting it now on the work load).. Putting the work load aside the problem im having is first.. none of your pillar methods work.. i built my 10x10 double foundations.. put my ramps in, had my walls 3 layers thick..4 tiles high.. and i cant get the pillars in with out destroying what i have done.. Im on a public server so this is a fully scale build op solo by myself. I looked a the other video but that would suggest restarting, I dont wish to destroy my base. I can accept letting the pillar fortification go. My main problem is.. for every 50 walls i make i loose 30 due to snaps showing the correct position yet placing the wall in another snap point thus destroying my walls.. Do you have advice to offer.. or is this just ark being ark.. I feel one thing that makes it possible for you to build these bases is that you have access to "fly" with out the fly option the angles required for correct snap seems difficult if not impossible to access. Other than these two progress halting issues Im loving what your doing.. great work.. look forward to more.

Heya, You can use the new pillar trick with the fence foundation on top of a ceiling. the one I showed with the pillar sticking out above the ceiling. if you do this build, you will also make a multilayered roof, on the lowest layer, place a fence foundation, place pillars on the corners like I shown in the video. after that create as much layers as you want, that can be 2 or 3 or 6, all up to you, the top 1 should be 1 wall higher than the lowest one, after that place walls on the outside to cover the layers and people can't see how many layers you used. this way you have a pillar on the corner. for the snapping problem, I don't have an advice, I had the same issue and that was very frustrating. it is ARK and the weird mechanics, showing you snappoint 1 and places it on snappoint 2. :/ I hope it will be fixed when they put the update in the game where you can cycle through the different snappoint before to place it

It works (usually), following same steps as foundations, added a pillar/ceiling to get to the next height, then thatch on the outside, fence foundations on the 'inside'. I got a few of them to be 3x walls, but some really did not want to cooperate, so i settled for 2x.

it probably does, but i lost patience with it. Official servers seem to suffer some lag issue with placement. If the placement i want is only showing on my screen within a very small movement of my character/mouse, then the chances of it placing where it shows are pretty low. The server will think I picked one of the snap points i don't want, must be some discrepancy there. If i found spot where i got the placement i wanted AND could move the mouse a little bit in any direction, there was a much lower chance of it snapping somewhere other than was shown on my screen. However, in single player, i didn't see this problem. Presumably because the server is me, so WYSIWYG. When i tried it in single player, i had no problems like i did on official.

nice video but you should NEVER have your entrance to the base on the first floor because your entrance is your weakpoint you should always put your entrance on the second floor with with wood(!!!) ramps down to the bottom, you might ask yourself but why wood ramps? because if they try to blow up your door they blow up your ramp aswell and even if they broke the door they have dificulties to enter your base because there is no ramp leading to the door on the second floor and like that you make your weakness to an advantage
