I always triple layer my walls. Two metal, one Adobe on the inside. I do the same with doors, ceilings, and foundations. Super walls

Great video, I have learnt a lot from watching your stuff. Myself and friends also tested various buildings in scorched earth. It's worth noting that, pure metal buildings are so bad, that even if the outside temperature is below freezing, you will get cooked to death inside a metal building, or like that metal corridor of death on the outside of your middle metal wrapped adobe. Which we found to be a bit weird... So we have treated it kind of like a defensive feature, in that, if you can trap your attackers inside metal....

Oh we also literally filled that metal corridor of death with air conditioners to see if we could make it even remotely survivable for any time, and the best hyper insulation we could get was roughly -1000, including silly fortitude and desert gear.

I would say get some of those achatinas / giant snails for a cementing paste factory or use a good killer and go into the desert. There are tons of creatures that will give you chitin

Makes sense a green house in the desert actually is suppose to keep heat out, that is the point in cold climates they are used to keep heat in, here in Arizona they are used to filter out some of the heat, but still allow sunlight.

Use metal if you want to have it warm..... well it burns you. I don't understand what you mean keeping you warm, because most of the time you want to stay cool. Hypoinsulation is for Cold and Hyperinsulation is for heat. Adobe is the best for SE

I love no collision build mod, but I've heard there are better mods now, don't know the names of that. but a good build mod lets you build where you want and doesn't say: can't place because it's obstructed

Please show us how to work the wind turbine the way it should work. i put it on cables with a generator but when the wind turbine turns off my AC and stuff turn off. my generator does nothing

in the greenhouse, you should have built sloped roof, that's what gives the greenhouses their heating effect.

Unless something has changed, the sloped roofs are purely aesthetic, the insulation value is calculated by the number of surrounding greenhouse surfaces, not affected by angle or anything else. ark.gamepedia.com/Greenhouse

it's hard to get housing effect with a behemoth gate in the build. with my castle build I only got house effect on the side where the rooms are smaller. high ceiling will also give trouble getting house effect

tents can only be placed on the ground, so if you have a base with a piece of foundation missing inside, then you can place it there

I can't tell: When you made the three layers of walls, was the inner adobe wall built on the top foundation or on the bottom foundation? I would think it would have been the top, like the other two, but it appeared to be slightly lower in height.

they are all on the top foundation, but the adobe is on fence foundation, when you snap a wall on a fence foundation it will be slightly lower than the wall on a normal foundation. that's why I could also place ceilings on top of eachother

Oh, okay...and that means that out of the three wall layers, two are on the fence foundation, but the outer one sits on the outer foundation piece (or, in the case of no outer foundation, it sort of hangs off the edge, if I remember correctly.) I see, thank you.

no, when you place 2 foundations next to each other, you can place a wall on the left foundation,but also on the right foundation, where the foundations touch each other. this works for metal. so if this _ would be a foundation, and this | a wall, you get: _||_ to get a wall on a fence foundation, first place the fence foundations on the foundation and then you can start placing walls if you place on both foundations a fence foundation where they meet each other, you can make 4 layers of walls

But I am planning on just a 1 by 2 with three layers. I know you can do this by placing an outer thatch foundatiin, placing the third wall of metal or stone, then removing the thatch foundation.

Does Fortitude Matter?

+Justin Harrison fortitude doesn't matter 8n the way of base readings. The thatch gives 191 insulation, if you would have had fortitude higher then 0 and armor with insulation and then for example have 100 insulation value. Then the 191 would just be added to that insulation value and the total inside would get to 291.
