We have almost every kind of area here in the US, deserts, mountains, beaches, artic, Plains, etc.

It's weird they called the map Applachia which is actually just the forested mountain area of the East Coast United States.

That area with the hot springs in the middle of conifer forest looked like the guizers at Yellowstone National Park and several cliff areas reminded me of Yosemite National Park. But yeah, I can see the eastern USA feel they're going for with some of it, especially that area with the square fields and paths. And kelp forests are in the ocean, so there are still aquatic biomes to discover. It's an oceanic forest made of kelp instead of trees and I don't know of any Ark map with a real kelp forest! That's what I'm the most excited about! I would love to see large sea dragons camouflaged and clinging to kelp. That area you keep calling a kelp forest is a wetland or swamp. Also something that I've seen in other maps is a lack of animals when you first enter an area. If you are the first person to make the map load in an area then the animals might not have had a chance to spawn in yet. Most of the map probably doesn't even have spawn points yet, but animals only really spawned in where you slowed down to look around closer to the ground.

A very nice review! Thanks for giving me a look. I am from am area near the Appalachian mountains and some areas do look a bit familiar. A kelp forest would be in the ocean. Kelp is seaweed. The new animals you mentioned (big mouth and blue gill) are fish. Bass to be precise.

Thank you, thank you. I've got this map downloaded via Steam and been waiting for the reviewers to have a look. When I jumped in there was next to no dino life at all but maybe that was just the canyon but no scorpions?... Creative mode didn't reveal much. Except a confused map that looks like the Foot Paw. Bit glitchy but can't wait to explore the final release :D I assumed it's still a work in progress. I do have vision issues so make it easier on myself but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of new discoveries.

Definitely has a mid western vib to the land meeting the rocky mountains! And the desert has a Nevada feel to it.

would be nice if wildcard took up more of these maps huge ones would take agers to get around on foot or even a dino on ground.with a new dino coming out they need a new map and ark 2 looks like it will be awhile yet.this would be a great map to do.would be a heap to explore. shame most ppl use flyers so miss alot on maps whats really there. but i love this map and cant wait until its done. :)

Actually it sortta DOES have North America vibes, like you said "it kinda feels like playing the forest"(for Canadian vibes ) :P, it kind of mashes Canadian and US and Mexican "biomes" together tho to be More than just "the forest" :) I can hardly wait for Unreal 5 and this map :D Thanx as always !!

Smooth mountains, big hills, winding river valleys, cliffs, lakes. . . Seems like our landscape in most areas. Not a big fan of the pillars/plateaus except in the desert. The beaches should have more pebbles/stones similar to the rivers. There should also be some caves for bears.

Deep North American here… no it doesn’t. Looks like someone spilled the plant paint all over Arizona……. The red and green trees only and the odd pines in the desert look like so. So yeah it’s just blended too well. I can’t wait to try it out!!!

I've lived in Appalachia my entire ife, this looks absolutely NOTHING like any of Appalachian mountains. Its specifically missing..the mountians, this has cliffs and flat plateaus. There is certainly no swamps or dessert themed areas, lol. Love, absolutely love Ark..but if its gonna be named Appalachia. Make it look LIKE Appalachia lol. If anything this is more Nevada or the Rocky mountian feel to it.. the entire other side of the country from where Appalachia is.
