I love the wolves, but the absence of a saddle hampers them drastically, particularly if you are just riding the one. Also, like with any pack dino, every time I come back from a killing spree adventure, at least one is missing...... stuck on some piece of scenery, god knows where. Until they fix the pathing on the AI, using any pack (especially in the jungle) is like babysitting.... an exercise in frustration. Great vid though!

I just use console commands to deal with bugs and bad or lazy development that screws gameplay. But, that was on my own server. I don't consider it cheating if it's used for fixing what devs did wrong. I loved my pack, but yes, I would fly to find the missing one who needed me to break a rock so it could get unstuck. In the north biome on the island it was a super pain in the butt because the Yuti would fear my base guards all over the place. That was combined with the bad design decision to have ai spawn in only behind the player, ie in the place you JUST cleared out.

I wish they we're like the Equus where you can choose if you want a saddle or not, that would make them perfect. Great job & thank you for updating this!

The coolest memory I have of my wolf pack is that of working on some aspect of my base and then hearing a scritching sound. I'm like, "wtf is that?" I walk around the building and see 2 little cubs scritching around on the snow /ice. Also, the pack leader buff being active even if you're riding it makes that dino super potent, since you're usually riding the best one. I loved my pack. I haven't played in ages, but this kinda makes me want to see if I can still find my server save file. The wolves are more maneuverable than sabretooths and pretty good jumpers too.

I've always been really bummed out that these guys never got a saddle, especially since they even show one with a saddle in one of the winter wonderland official artworks. I feel like that's all they need to become a top tier mount.

@@tralfiregaming8209 One. It doesn't look silly in the official artwork. Two. It would look no sillier than every other creature that gets a saddle. Three. Silly is a small price to pay for not dying.

@@kianbarnes7825 I am aware. I just want the saddle cause it feels like we were duped out of one given an artwork for one had been shown. Not to mention, dire wolves aren't the only creatures to get a pack bonus. The others get saddles too.

@@chloenelson3951 just put helmet on it and I think the fire wolf is to small for a saddle and the ability to put a helmet on it makes up for lack of armour

Love the details in the video 👌👌 Ive always loved sabres and wolf's, Ive breed a pack of total dire wolf's and sabres, and absolutely run a mess on the map casually roaming the map, gotta love the no saddle dire wolf tho, great speed mount for early game

Even though I’m mainly a wyvern guy, I still tamed me up a pack of Direwolfs and love them

I like to prepare cooked meat and get a flyer and a raft with me then go up north and make a trip out of it. Only problem now is the whales that eat your raft lol. If you stay close to the coast it seems like it’s a lower chance of encountering them though and if you’re on PVE you can log out for a while and come back in and it may have despawned. Keep some materials on board to repair the raft. I added a Gennie a fridge a hatch frame etc but you could keep it basic also.

Came here because my wolf pack only goes up to +3 not +4. The 4th one says +3 but I have 4 in total, Does the leader not count as a 4th?

No the counts goes as alpha has+3 becasue he doesnt count himself. Would take 5 to get +4 which is also max bonus size

According to the wiki, dire wolves are supposed to be second only to Angler Fish at harvesting silica pearls. Imagine my surprise when I tames a breeding pair, raised their offspring, and could find no function or ability that would allow the critter to pick up a single pearl. If anyone has any information on whether the wiki is wrong, or if there is something I am missing, please let me know.

Direwolves get silica pearls off of creatures like leeches and trilobites. They don't harvest pearl nodes like Anglers do

@@delmer2389 That would explain that. Thank you for the information. I was able to tame a reasonable angler eventually; imagine my surprise when the harvest rate went from 20-30 by hand to 380 by fish. :D

I loved my pack of 6 or so. I had a healer set to follow them, forget what that dino was called, been a while. Their battle buff and the healer following them was a great expedition unit. I loved how maneuverable they were.
