Hey, How's it going everyone? I'm Phlinger Phoo and today we are going to discuss what all the recently changed Argentavis (Argent) can do! From picking up dinos to helping make taming So much easier, as well as have a smithy built in to it's saddle and a bonus weigth reduction, the TLC Argent has it all!

I love the new Argentavis, talk about a great utility dino. However i have discovered that the old argie traps that were used with a Pteranodon, no longer work. The slimmer body of the argy can fit through the gaps that the Ptera fly through. Great video Phlinger as always thank you, i love watching your vids.

Julie Umph we had that problem too, our trap has holes in the top for escape at the ends near dino gates, you can place the gates slightly closer together and leave about 3/4 of a roof tile open, pteranodon can still escape but argy can't. Easiest with s+ gates because you can tinker and test, but we got it working just by bringing the gates in a little closer.

Use doorframes and a lower level pteranodon that you don't care about dying then use that to trap the argent.

That's odd, I just did a multi Argy taming session for high level easter colored birds using the same pen I had before - dino gate, foundations, columns and ceilings (all stone) and had no problems, Ptera went through the column gap just fine, Argy did not fit. My set up was 2 foundations wide, 4 long with columns snapped to the outside edges of the length and two in the foundation midpoints at the end of the pen and full ceiling.

That style still works, but the more classic roof with a single ceiling hole doesn't. The argy used to not fit through the one ceiling tile but now they can. Personally I just use S+ gates on auto with one side set to a 10 second close delay and its easy peasy.

I had that same problem with the argys slipping out the roof gap by the dino gate on my trap. So to fix this, after several got out, I put walls with windows on the 4 edges by the gap. Then I took one ceiling tile, and snapped it into place at the midpoint of the tile, so it closes off the gap. Best on the longer segment of wall, so it shrinks that hole up to where it can't get out. Even better is when they stick their heads up to the side of the tile and present it for clean head shots. Works like a champ! They stay in the trap, and I pluck it good and plenty in the head until it runs back down in the trap. Then its just a matter of hitting it in the sides until it goes to sleep. Took me several trials and tribulations to fix the trap to keep them from slipping out, but it works awesome now.

You didn't touch on it beyond the list but gallimimus are soooo much easier with an argie now. By the way, ankylos don't auto harvest, so it wont work with the argie. Works with beavers though!

TYSM just tamed an equus by argy Edit: Also in mobile if ur argy gets attack and when your done killing your enemy your argy have healing abilities which heals them and u to.

hmmm... maybe if you could find some metal nodes on a cliff edge of some sort you could carry an anky to them... definitely more interesting than stone imo, because it's super easy to get stone nodes right next to your base already, while getting a base next to lots of metal nodes there is a lot more competition... still, worst case scenario, being able to fly your anky in, even if you have to dismount, is much better than having to walk your anky in if you aren't close to lots of metal...

Have to be honest, I liked it better when you could carry aggressive mobs without them hitting you :) Other than that change though I love all the new stuff for the Argy. Now I no longer need to use my mod that lets them carry ankys and doeds.

Great video as always! I'm not sure how to feel about this. All of the smaller utility dinos can be carried and pen tamed now and that takes away much of the PVE challenge.

just because you can doesn't mean you have to but this update makes it so much easier for solo players especially since we can pick up ankys

Mech0p Well, I am a solo player, and I run a server for a small, closed group. We had a great time going to tame a high level doedic, challenging but fun. Had we had that option, we would have had a doedic much sooner. This just makes things too easy. While I realize I don't have to use the feature, the option is there and I think that ruins the challenge. I'm a bit of a masochist gamer so I can stick to my own house rules, but not everyone on my server will. Oh well, it is what it is.

Argy was always the universal choice. It's not like anyone goes anywhere on foot without a deathwish or an open afternoon.

on maps with tapejara, you can use them to relatively easily tame a quetz. if you don't mind it taking a long time, you can even get a high level quetz with it (alternately, you can get a lower level quetz, build a quetz trap on the platform saddle, and try that). and you can tame a tapejara with a pteranodon and some rare flowers, so that isn't too hard any more either.

i suppose so, but neither is really all *that* hard to tame (again, provided there are tapejara on the map to tame first) argent is more popular because it is a good generalist while the quetz is a specialist. if the argent was a specialist and the quetz was the better generalist, people would go for quetz more often. i mean, consider the pelagornis. lower weight, but fast, can land on water, can even walk through normal doors as i understand it. good stamina too. it should be great for traveling around the map, and yet almost nobody tames one, and that's in addition to being good for harvesting organic polymers, and yet you rarely see anyone tame them. it isn't difficulty that makes quetz rare. it is being a specialist. you don't tame it unless you need a specialist, and most people don't need a specialist. certainly the argent is now an even better generalist, but if people need that specialist, they will still go after a quetz, and the difficulty won't be the determining factor any more than it determines whether or not you tame a paracer.
