When ark came out I used to watch videos. My first thought was, get a pack of raptors and raise my speed so I can outrun anything and hunt with them

I recommend, if you're starting out and you want to tame raptors, go ahead and use the axe on the phiomia. The raptor isn't going to need a whole stack to tame, let alone many stacks. Plus you get a bunch of hide.

Having just one raptor tamed at the beginning is very helpful because if any other low level dinos come at you, they are asking for a death sentence

I soooo want a raptor. Decently fast mount, and I've always thought they look extremely cool. But sadly I've never found one I can hope to bola. They see mme before I see them, every time, and they re always in groups. I'm either jumped and killed before I know what hit me, or I end up needing to kill them to save myself.

Here's a tip:get metal armor and double the starting health. Also I think your supposed to spam attack to cancel his pounce.

The best luck I've had with packs of raptors is by the rivers. Simply because they can't swim fast enough to keep up with you, and you can bola them as they come out of the water, or just before they come out of the water. They're like sitting ducks.

1. Build a raft. Raptors are not fast in the water, rafts are. 2. Find a raptor near a river (good point to find them is Cragg's island. Go to the obelisk/waterfall side, theres no raptors. They are on the island). 3. Get in the boat!!! (Rip Joergen) 4. Make sure there are no other agressive animals/neutrals that can kill your target. 5. A) Low level. Get into agro range or hit it with a slingshot from boat. B) Higher level. Dont go to agro range, use one tranq dart to engrage it. 6. Swim to the other side using a raft. Make sure raptor follows you. 7. Two techniques: A) Get the movement speed higher than 112. Once it gets to your river side, run and tranq. B) No need for movement speed, just a lotta confidence and a steady hand. Get to the shore, start swinging a bola, when the target comes near (make sure its on land) throw the bola. The rest is easy. 8. (Optional) while the raptor is unconscious, build a quick stone door cage. Need around 7-10 stone fence foundations and doorframes of the same material. You can also add reinforced wooden doors to the doorframes to ensure no compies, dilos, troodons and pegomastax get in. 9. Confidence. That is the key to it. You can make a spyglass to check on a raptor pack from distance. With enough confidence, you can tame pack of 4 at once (i succeeded).

I both love and hate raptors. I have 20 of them on staff now. Been slowly but surely leveling each of them up to carrying 255 pounds, figuring that would work well enough for most applications.

Bc dilos will give enemies poison and slow them down while raptors can give a stun lock attack and do alot of damage

Forgot to show us how to tame them in the taming pen. lol Can you also get into a little more detail on how different food can give you a bonus when taming something and is there a mate boost when taming something? a little more detail on how all that works Thanks...Love this series.

Raptors are finicky in taming pens, they can fit through doors. Bolas and tranq arrows are the safest method for taming Raptors. The rest of that information is available on the wiki, which I highly recommend.

Hey Phlinger. Really enjoy your videos. They have really helped me get started as a complete newb. I did not think Raptors where so bad. I did not encounter one until after i got my Movement speed to 112. I even tamed a couple early game and they save my butt more than a few times. in fact they died doing just that. After today though I'm on the "Stupid Raptor" band wagon. I built my base in the same place yours is in Solo. Got a stone fence up with 3 behemoth gates. Tamed up some utility dino's ( Doedicurus, Castoroides, and a megaloceros) a couple of carnos, a Rex, a Trike, and various other smaller ones. and not to forget my Pride and Joy, My 4th tame in game, Theo the Therizinosaurus. I was ready to go find a Argent. Built a taming pen; like you showed me, got my pteranodon leveled up with weight, health and Stam, and even made a saddle for the Argent. Decided to take out the Rex with me just to get some more levels on him while collecting the Prime meat i would need. Found a 96 Argent ( best i could find in area) and tamed that bad boy. Headed back to base. Got to base, everything but my Doedicurus is dead, well and my stego, but everything that was out side a building is dead. There is a hole in one of my fence walls. The door to one of my Behemoth gates is gone, and there are 2, yes TWO Alpha Raptors doing the best to kill my Doedicurus, who is balled up and taking no damage, what saved the Stego's life. I landed on the roof and shot them with my longneck till they died a hopefully very painful slow death. Out of about 15 dinos, 2 survived. So yea, Stupid Raptors!!!! Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming. I'm a Fan.

So glad I watched this now, because honestly, I always thought Raptors are pretty useless xD They die quick, they can carry nothing and they have low stamina. But like this, as a low level tame, woah the fun one could have! :D :D I want to start over with a new survivor on a new map now just to try this xD

I had come across a 145 raptor in the island mainland, and after taming it it had increased to just below 200 and I leveled it up a few times and it had about 6500 health with a 500 increase each level basically

A raptor under lvl 200 literally cannot have 6500 hp unless you're in a boosted ass server. That's t Rex health there.

I was once in the forest and saw a group of 3 raptors. well 1 strayed off. I got it trapped in a bear trap, i was gonna tranq it, but then another one came by and started clawing the other one. Next thing I knew, he was free from the trap. And they both ran at me.

I used to make the mistake of trying to get hide from animals with a hatchet, because I would soley use the pick to harvest animals for resources.

Tip: get a bola and a bow and some tranq arrows get prime or regular meat find a highs level raptor bola it’s tranq it then put the food n t and boom then make a raptor saddle it’s really easy oh and they can pound on animals if your in consoul press L2 on a animal on the raptor

I had a nice pack of raptors on the center but my server happened to be pvp and one shithead felt like transferring owl and managrim and permaraiding everyone. God please make it so that every map-exclusive creature is locked from transferring from its map

Do raptors still tame with raw meat? I thought I needed parasaur kibble

Yeah, kibble has changed so the recipes are way easier and streamlined (bigger the egg the more loved the kibble by species) but meat does find job instead - if you ain't got kibble carnivores like Mutton, prime meat and raw meat whilst herbivores can settle for veggie cakes, raw vegetables or good old mejoberries. Kibble is a high tier strat where you feed a dino it's most prefered food for max speed of taming thus max extra levels from taming effectiveness.

I didn’t need this to tame a raptor. I had my health up to 200 and my melee up to 150, I was walking in a dense forest, axe in hand, then I heard a roar that I didn’t want to hear. I turned around to see a green raptor, about level 3, running full speed. I jumped onto a steep rock behind me and started pelting it with arrows. It died, and I thought I was safe. Only for a raptor to pounce from the back. I got free of its grip, and started clubbing it. It started running for a hill and I followed. I then knocked it out. I named it green boi! Then he died 2 days later and I had so much rage I deleted my world.

rippp. i got 2 raptors, bred up 7 more, and they never died ever again since they instantly killed gigas basically, more like 3 seconds until gigas die, titans, like 10 seconds

I have 5 raptors 280 + lvl with 1100% damage and dont know about pack attack, i must try it , because single hit with my raptor agains big dinos is about 200, i want to see 5x 1100% raptors can shred alpha rex :-P i cannot wait i must see it

But Phimoa are better than raptors I called fat boi and when I was being attacked by a max level raptor, my phimoa came out of the open base and killed it and my fat boi wasn’t even a max lvl, that’s why u should never kill fat bois.
