I was so hoping you would do a play with the expansion! We just played with it this weekend and I walked away with a high score of 28! So stoked! I love the new bonus tiles and the Reef action really let's you see so much more of the deck! Love EVERYTHING ♡♡♡

This was such a great playthrough! I love this game and the expansion. I also love that you guys put the lie to the fact that this game has to take a long time. One nitpick I have is that the bonuses on Nick’s map for placing animals in the matching continent are only allowed to be taken once. You are supposed to put the cube on the bonus you take to remember.

No you CAN take the same bonus multiple times. Just not bonus every time you put matchning animal on the map, that is only once.

I played with the expansion when it came out and I thought “if you like Ark Nova, this is great for you. If you don’t, then you’ll shrug and walk away.” I’m in the latter camp, personally, but great to see you guys enjoying one of your favourites

Can't wait to dig into this video. I've played the expansion a couple times and the aquarium stuff is kind of take-it or leave-it for me, but man the card drafting at the start adds a whole new element. I really enjoy that aspect of the expansion a lot.

Great playthrough! Enjoyed it a lot. I think Mike should have had an extra bonus tile when gaining reputation above 15. See global setup step 1 from the expansion.

At 40:09 just FYI when you said you could make a donation, you couldn’t - if you upgrade the card during an action the upgraded effects don’t apply. You didn’t make the donation anyway but it’s just a small note as this is one of those games with tons of little rules that are easy to miss!

Kind of a strange game. Not sure I ever saw someone not flip their build, and neither of you did. Also not sure I ever saw someone go through a game without building a kiosk, and not sure either of you did, lol. But that's one of the reasons I love this game, there are so many different strategies to use

Loved the gameplay! I don't know if I recall correctly but at 19:30 I think that you slide a card to 1 *after finishing*. So your animal card at the number 1 spot and building at number 2. Not totally sure though. Keep up the good work, cheers from Finland!

Actually, it would still be illegal as the rulebook says you can only build 1 large and 1 small aquarium, and you already had 1 small aquarium.

Little late obviously but the other side of the board orients the cards differently so that if you're playing across from someone you both see them from the side angle. You may know this already but hey just in case! I was looking forward to seeing this play through and ironically enough I had the restaurant map as well and thats where I put my aquarium! NOICE

At 55 minutes your little aquarium was not touching water. And it was a second small aquarium, you can only have 1 of each

At around the 20 minute mark you did a build action that gave you the clever ability, which lets you move a card to the #1 slot. You made a mistake, though. When you use that ability you finish the complete turn, including moving your build card down, before moving the chosen card to the 1. You moved animals to the 1 and then moved build to the 1, pushing animals to the 2. It should have ended with build at 2 and animals at 1.

When you have a "Take 1 card within your reputation range", you do know if you don't like any of them you can draw one off the top of the deck, right? A couple of times it looks like you took animals you didn't want.

At 49:03, I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't the blue box for single player? In this case no X in multi player, since poison has no effect in single player.

There is a “nice variant“ where you can choose to use the single player rules for cards like that, instead of using the interactive effects. We generally do as we feel this game doesn’t need “take that” elements. So we just use the single player parts of those cards

We always face things like cards faceup for the audience. It means Mike has to read upside down sometimes unfortunately, but we want it to be clear for the viewers

Marine Worlds is a great expansion. Fixes minor bugs, but introduced new ones Mike had the worst new action cards and the worst map, while nick the best action cards and ok map.

I actually like the fast gameplay without over-explaining everything. Most gameplay content of Ark Nova is +1,5-2h and it’s great to see that it can also be played snappy without too much downtime.
