So the best use for this guy would be making several outposts. A place rich in metal could be a good place for him, with sentries or turrets set up. Because something as silly as moving a lot of metal from a storage of metal to the industrial forge is kinda odd. Who puts their raw metal in a storage? It goes straight in the Industrial Forge and from there it gets pulled to wherever you craft stuff. It seems to have terrible weight for a robot gathering machine(perhaps robot upgrades could come in the future). My character has just as much weight as it, and my creatures gather things faster/more efficient. It's not like in Palworld where resource nodes had thousands of resources in them, so setting up a base near them would make you have resource flowing for days. Overall, I feel the idea is good but we've got a lot of updates to the robot before it becomes something I'd consider using. Features would be like craft shotgun shells for me. Placing a blueprint inside it, I would pick the amount I'd want, and the robot would go find the resources in my base, no matter what they would be. No simple pistol ammo? It would go and find gunpowder and metal ingots. No gunpowder? It would then go find charcoal and sparkpowder and craft it. No sparkpowder, same deal. But even go out and harvest stone and flint for it. Far more complicated coding but if it's just moving things from one storage to another, then I'm just dumping it all on the ground and whipping it up and transferring it in a single go. No need to watch the robot go back and forth 50 times. So a good idea but very barebones at this time.

If it could pull materials from dinos, there might be an actual use. Having it run back and forth from your anky to a forge could be helpful for a metal outpost, or having it withdraw achitina paste from snails as they make them could also work. I will say, having it automatically run ingots from a forge to storage or crafting stations isn't too bad, though.

if only it would continue to work out of render. =/ Else you could leave one at the volcano with a ender box and it would keep it full while the one at your base would keep the forge full while emptying the Ender box

The Robots if a very nice addition to ARK. But they need to up the amount/weight the robot can carry. Its waaaay to low at the moment so goes much faster to farm yourself.

Think a good way to have somewhat a control/seting boundaries is the docking station have a radius setting like a personal Dino Leash that way cant wonder off u less you want too. Having the option to freeroam or limit the area of movement be so much better. In my opinion that is ..

The micromanaging kinda defeats the purpose of having a robot. They should give him a little jetpack so he doesn't get stuck on ledges.

Good idea. After all it literally teleports to you when you summon it. So even if when it detects it gets stuck they could allow it to teleport still. Also if maybe the player could draw a pathing route on the ground would do the trick.

Mine jumped off a ledge and got stuck and when I came back to the base a little later, he had self teleported back.

Thanks for the great video. Feedback: It's pretty much useless really. The deal killer is that a player must be present for it to do anything. Just like putting dinos on roam that can collect things. * For gathering like it shows it uses the same dumb ARK AI pathing. It will get stuck at the door trying to get out of your base. It will run in circles, etc. And probably once it's out of render range it will just stop and freeze there until you get close to it again. * I do like the repair feature at least. You put repair materials in it's inventory and it will go around repairing things in your base. But then limited since it can't climb ladders, etc. I found it often getting stuck under where I have ceilings over platforms, etc. * The butler feature looks good but then you will have to be in the area so the usefulness is AFAIK limited. Useful if you lay AFK in your base and let it move ingots around or something? Neat idea, but I foresee it will be much more useful in the future once there is better AI pathing and collusion detection. It's a complicated game with dynamic 3D parts, so none of these problems are easy to solve. Maybe when our computers have twice the compute, faster RAM, etc. And maybe some of these problems can be solved with great engineering efforts still today.

At the moment the robot is useless when i put him in butler mode he immediately runs and jumps on a smithy and gets stuck or jumps behind linked storage or just runs in circles on the spot so its actually quicker to move the stuff yourself I have made a couple and put them in storage until the devs fix them otherwise a great addition when they actually work

Just feels like a lot of the S+ automation with some 'balance' in that there's a physical dude doing it. Same liability as anything you leave on wander, so there's some tradeoff. I can hear the cries of pay to win for sure, but we didn't pay for the updated map, only this specific content. IMO trains are more than worth bobs tall tales all on it's own, and this stuff is just gravy. I still hope ARK fails enough for snail games to sell it to almost anyone since they suck, but I don't feel taken advantage of here myself. I think wildcard are the victims here just as much as we are.

I take mine down to the creek and set him to harvest pearls. He harvests about twice the number of pearls as I do by hand with 150% melee.

Lol My bot will not harvest, even if it's right next to all the stuff it just stands there talking to itself then goes into standby mode! xD Managed to get him to harvest Z fruits in my greenhouse and put the fruits into storage...and that was when it broke all the inventory and I can no longer see inventory on anything.

I have a base on the center maps pearl cave and let a few of them farm the pearls for me unfortunately the turrets all over the ceiling won't shoot the spiders while there swimming so I have to have gigas in there to protect them. Still have lost one so not the best but they do get me about 10,000 pearls a day passively so...

this is a great addition, can we get one to take resources from another...... so one is gathering, and another taking from him to sort it into chests would also be cool if he had a combat mode like spin attack ect but only by your base for defense. not any better than a turret, but it could be cool to see them all run out and melee fight lol

I think if it was stationary with a working radius it would solve a lot of problems constantly getting stuck on EVERYTHING and less strain on the server I tried making fully automated kibble crafting but the pathing on the robot is a nightmare even with everything raised so it could walk under them

Mine immediately gets over weighted and will just stand there and go to sleep..wonder if the stacks we have on the cluster is too much even with just one stack? Would be nice if logic was built in so it would only remove the max it can handle.

Seems like robot automatically does fert if a vault with fert is nearby. I'm actually trying to disable it because I wanted to try automating my gardening AND my cooking. If there is a way to disable pulling fert?

It really feels like these were made with only Abb in mind. I'm on a solo story mode play through and I'm on the island rn and they are... nearly useless as metal/crystal/obsidian harvesters (which is the main thing I wanted them for). When set to only metal they'll harvest an entire rock node for the 3 metal instead of prioritizing metal nodes. Also most metal on the island is on mountains and they'll just fling themselves down a cliff with no hesitation. So glad I decided to spawn them in to test them instead of grinding or I would have been so sad. If someone comes up with a way to pen them in without ruining metal spawns by placing walls PLEASE let me know

So I could have a auto ingot farmer with 3 robots basically. first one harvests and puts in the vault when full, 2nd grabs raw metal out and puts in the smelter and the 3rd grabs ingots out and puts them in the vault etc. Am I getting that right? if I don't want to keep clicking between harvest and butler modes.

Make a track for it with fence foundations with railings to and from the resources you want him to get. If you keep it far enough from the resources it shouldn't block the spawn and might supply him a guide to keep him from getting stuck on cliffs. The new AI pathfinding is terrible, I miss when tames just ran straight at you full speed at all times.

@@joeneighbor yes when it paths the AI does not 'see' walls and many obstacles so it trys to take the shortest route but there are walls, rocks, Forges etc in the way. Same with trying to path to something upstairs, it will walk below its destination and then go in circles. .. rather than path up the very large ramp right next to it...

I tried to set mine to collect snail paste, didn't work. Took him up to the volcano with an airship that had linked storage on it, he ran off the ledge and fell into the only fucking hole that you couldn't recover him from.... Once we get dino leashes with Extinction we can stick these dudes in a set zone to farm for all eternity!

I'm not quite understanding why the slot limit is 100 and you say that's the maximum number of slots available in a vault when a vault has 350 slots. Is the 1-100 setting perhaps a percentage of all available storage? Or can you really only instruct it to move 100 slots of anything...

The robot is ok when you live on a complete flat land with zero walls or doors anywhere but the second you introduce a wall to the scenario the robot then becomes very intimate with those walls and refuse to leave them alone or walk around them. But I will say this isn't just the robot that horrible pathing dino's seem to have issue navigating walls and gates too, for the life of me I can not get my dino's to walk through my behemoth gate

When the path works the robot works like a charm, but most of the time this robot get's stuck in corners going round and over time there is no logic that resets it's path thus making it waste all that time trying to go through a blocked path. They really really really need to fix the pathing. And the fact that it doesn't work when not in render range limits it's abilities as well. I could have a safe spot in the blue zone in aberation for it to farm metal and put it in a linked storage box but the fact that it needs to be rendered in, it makes this robot less useful.

Be careful of letting this robot move around your eggs, it removes the parents. Don't let it touch any of your gear, because it will make it primitive. Do not let it touch your cryo- pods, it will delete your creatures inside them. These are three game breaking bugs that wildcard needs to fix.
