So what I've gathered from the video and comments are: 1.) You can have a new character made for every map you want to play. Your most experienced character can transfer items to the maps where your Alt survivor is on and vise versa so you can still have all the maps bounty on your main. 2.) You can just transfer your items and dinos with your main. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!! DO NOT HIT CREATE NEW CHARACTER ON THE MAP YOU ARE TRYING TO GO TO. When you get to the menu screen on the map you want to start there is [create new survivor] or [download existing survivor] . Hitting "download existing survivor" will bring you to an extra screen to confirm the survivor you want to download. Click on the SAME BOB OR JANE YOU UPLOADED. And boom, your character is now on the new map. YOU MUST GO BACK THE SAME WAY YOU CAME IF YOU WANT ALL YOUR MAIN DATA AND DINOS TO BE ON THE PREVIOUS MAP!! So once Bob is done on genesis then upload him back to the obelisk go back to your main server and hit UPLOAD EXISTING SURVIVOR and click Bob and now you are back home with all your main data and the stuff you uploaded from the map you went to. Its important to never hit "make new survivor" after you left your main server or map cause that means ark will wipe ALL the data of your previous character off. You will return but your house items and dinos will not belong to you anymore and the game will treat you just like a newbie outsider of a tribe. Learned the transferring part the hard way ;-; Had to use console commands to claim all my stuff back Lesson has been learned haha Im glad commands worked tho, unfortunately the dino's are missing the imprint buff, but everything else works just fine I think at least-

Before doing this Always backup. Also take into account that items need to be in your inventory for a minimum amount of time to be transferred, if that time isn’t met, you’ll lose it.

@@oxi3245 E:\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal Change that adress according to your steam folder location. as for the time, by default I believe is 10 mins, but that can be changed as any other setting. Either way, if you go to the obelisk, the items will have a countdown when you upload them, that countdown is the time left to be able to transfer them, no countdown means you're good to go. Hope this helps, sorry I don't remember the exact time.

@@oxi3245 ups! somthing you could try is making a manual safe data of your files for ark to a usb, and if something goes wrong load it up. I am not sure if this works, since I've never checked how it works for ark, but I've done that with games like conan on ps4.

Works between different survivors as shown, good tutorial! Got a 190 drake egg I retrieved from Fjordur with my survivor Bob over to my other survivor Bridget on Genesis. Just a quick note: DON'T UPLOAD SOMETHING YOU'RE UNWILLING TO LOSE! Game crashes can delete items, which is what happened with a 180 Rock Drake Egg. Thankfully, my own Drake on Fjordur was more than strong enough to go back in and replace it.

More specifically: Game crashed after I had taken the egg and attempted to download my test-victim Dilophosaurus, Beachgoer. Upon reloading the egg was nowhere to be found but I was successfully able to retrieve Beachgoer.

only issue I see is if you want to ascend your character to max lvl you cant transfer your character to the other maps cause it would erase your other character saves. How do you ascend with a system like this? or do you choose not to

Everything will still be there but make sure to take the same character back again because you don't want to accidentally create a new game file accidentally overwriting everything.

Thanks! I never really stuck to a playthrough but this time I have set the personal goal to tame at least 1 of every tamable creature in ARK. Being able to hop between maps and transfer them to my main save will be necessary for that! ^^ Funny how I have 200 hrs of playtime but there are so many things I don't know, haven't done, maps I have never played on... its so easy to lose hours of your life just messing about in this game xD Ive never even used electricity >.< Then again in SP you just have fun, no need to be efficient if you dont want to. And I often play permadeath. If a survivor dies I start over.

Yes is seems that way cause if its in your regular inventory you will drop it as will your dinos. Think of the obelisk as the ultimate transmitter of your items and creatures 😊

Yeah....but how do you get out of aberration. I can't find a way to transfer out my dinos without cryo cells. Tried building a ramp up to the the surface at the climb spots, and it says can't place on ground. I tried the whole loot crate transfer thing people say online, but there is no transmitter page when I open a crate. Any ideas how a fresh spawn can transfer out dinos, or do I need to just upload cryo cells from another map and carry them all up to the surface?

Do I need to beat bosses or anything to do any of this? And if I bring a lvl 100 character to a new map, does that unlock whatever engrams right away or it wipes the character to zero? I don't know about the non dedicated server but if you transfer your character you keep the same level. it does overwrite any existing character on the map

@@ihuss yes and no, if it works your character from the island is on Ragnarok now, if it doesn't work correctly then you get completely wiped and you lose both. So yes is the answer, with a risk.

No you don't. When you play single player the game pauses whenever you leave a map during a transfer or if you turn off the game. I have maps I haven't touched in forever that still have everything right where I left it. When you play official its always going in the background, if you have a server its always running in the background.

I uploaded items and creatures yesterday at the obelisk. Using my same character I uploaded it to data then I transfered back to my save file in The Island. The Obelisk shows the items in inventory but doesn't allow me to remove or access those items. I went back to the map Lost Island that I put all my dinos in and removed them. There is a 12 hour timer from the time you release a critter from a cryopod to the time you are allowed to upload them to obelisk. I want to take my same character and transfer her from Lost Island to The Island with the critters I caught and get the items I uploaded. So far the obelisk won't let me remove my items but it did let me remove the cryopods that were in the Tribute section

yes just make sure to take the same character. if you create a new character and then go back to rag it will overwrite the save file. your stuff will be there you just can't use it. then you'll have to use different commands lol but yeah you should be fine

I often transfer my Dino’s with the creatures method, it if I don’t save and the game crashes, they’re gone cuz the game does that weird part where it goes back to the last saved moment and the Dino’s are in the data anymore 😢, lost a max level and cool colored magmasaur to that 😢😢😢

How do I pick upload survivor and then download him to another map? I ask because sure I can upload my tames, but they don't get the imprint buff unless used by my survivor from the map they were breed in. Hope that makes sense.

after you upload your character exit and go to new map. Now when you start up instead of creating new character you choose download character. your uploaded one should be there waiting. you should spawn into new map as original character

Yes, I’ve done it with my bf. although the experience is far superior when you create a server, because you can split and get dinos from different maps according to what you need. Ps: there are apps that help you manage servers for free, or you can create your own, there are really good guide on the internet.

I have seen videos from 6 years ago were they were transferring via supply drops. Is this still possible in 2022? If so then how. Also I play on both Xbox and Steam, can this be done on both? I know you can't go between the two and that's ok, I just want to transfer between maps within the same version. they should still be on the physical map but you might need to use command to reclaim the structures and dinos for use with the new character

If I do this the level distributions get weird. I play on rag where everything is a multiple of 5 and max level is 150, but when I load up the island or abberation with the same difficulty everything is a multiple of 4 all of the sudden, so max 120, but the world settings are the exact same. Why is this?

Blowout Gaming I found out already, apparently the max difficulty depends on the map your playing on or something, so on SE and EXT it should be fine but on TI and ABB its different. But the ‘enable max difficulty setting’ seems to be a little buggy (it could be because I’m on epic games or something)
