I get what this is. This isn't just a boss theme. It has the same melody of "Nega" in there, but has the energy of Kai's theme. This is the theme, of the _original Gravity Circuit._

The way that the game had me convinced the whole way through, right up to the actual fight with him, and then made that fight into something completely different...masterfully executed storytelling.

nega is basically true neutral, not directly helping, but not hurting. it's YOUR choice to buy and/or use the chips he has. and he dosen't interact with the story much

I really thought Nega was a Dr.wily or Sigma situation… not a Proto Man situation! Protozoan is my fave Megaman character besides Zero, so I was so happy. Edit: Proto Man not Protozoan lol

i lost my mind when he popped last resort this was the bossfight that made me actually interact with chips and techniques, because nega was just so much better with them than i was without them

And the best bit: Aside from Last Resort, the only Burst Techniques he uses? The STARTING FOUR. (I actually had him use Catch Interrupt on me fighting him!)

@@jokelethkurueisner9229 Wrong, he serves as both. He acts as a mentor and passes the torch to an inexperienced bot that slowly grows stronger like X, to Kai.

'So show me you are worthy, other me!' I consider him the real final boss. You can cheese the rest or they have gimmicks to counter. Easy tells and such. But him? He is pure shonen spirit, he even gets a mid battle power up and a NEVER GIVE UP!™ to throw at you. I took a rider kick to the face when he did that. He makes you earn the right to that circuit.

It was already a fantastic Megaman-like, but the absurd amount of love pulled from MULTIPLE different MM games across different series to spin into something original here was just absurd.

@iytdominotikHe has all of your shit, but better. His flying strikes go across the screen, his rising upper is 3 strikes going successively higher, and his heavenly piledrive is faster

I love that when you beat the game, you can find paint that lets you pick up rocks from the ground and throw them for half the damage of thrown enemies. Come to think of it, the whole palette system is really cool and a fun way to customize your play.

The devs went incredibly hard with the endgame, I did not expect this to be the first of the final fights at all. The OST also leaves an impact, what with all the leitmotifs, too. Thanks for uploading this separately, my favorite battle track from the game for sure.

I already thought the *idea* of this fight was great, and then I thought the story and music behind it was great, but then that final phase man! AAHH, so good! I was so panicked and surprise on my first play that I somehow in the chaos I managed to dodge all of his bursts too! That fight just feels SO GOOD on so many levels.

Not sure if it's the same for you, but for me it's due to that jingle seamlessly going into the intensity of the main song, essentially representing the realization of who it is you're fighting. It's the musical equivalent of him tossing the robe off before going into the fight.

The best part about it is how it frames the last hit of the second phase as being the actual last hit... ...But it doesn't say Finish. Because he's not finished with you yet.

@@ransan It may be a reference to the Megaman Battle Network series. There's a boss in the 5th and 6th games that does a very similar looking finishing move under the exact same conditions Target Finalizer comes out during Nega's fight.

@@Fres576 No, I already figured it out. It's a follow up attack that you can only see if you let yourself get hit by one of Nega's other attacks. I had to check a KZbin video because I was so confused why I wasn't seeing it after dozens of rounds against Nega.

This moment made me glad that I avoided spoilers. I suspected that there would be some sort of twist regarding Kai's identity as early as the opening and that Nega would have some connection to the circuits, but I only put it all together just before the reveal.

@@jomon324 The fact you spend that final level as EQUALS And you can TELL you're equals because you don't have to run his course too (also that's what we call GOOD STORYTELLING - you go to that junction expecting to need to run both, you clear one and Nega succeeded on the other one - GUY STILL KICKS ASS)

i was so afraid that they'd end up going in a megaman x style for the endgame's story(oh man we beat the big evil guy, now we must stare into the sunset and wonder if robots can ever stop fighting, repeat for 3 more games), but it turns out they made this guy more like zero than zero actually is most of the time

Funnily enough, it almost reminds me of Phantom’s secret fight because of the whole “proving yourself before fighting the final boss” thing.
