I started watching your videos when I first started Ark about 1000 hours ago. Seen all of your ABC videos and a ton of your series. Started so many characters I can't even count them. Still learn something new when watching your videos. I work full time and have to take care of family but I'm here when I can be. First game loaded in and immediately upon waking was face to face with one of those green spitting things ... i turned green, ran ... he followed, spat green at me again and i died ... Welcome to Ark i thought ...

New players, also consider LOWERING the xp you get. I found myself unlocking things with a new level, then I would spend time trying to get what I need to craft the new thing I unlocked, but would get 5 more levels doing that, so I kept unlocking things that I didn't have the basic resources built up to realistically craft, so it's easy for your levels to run away from where you actually are in your game... If that makes sense.

Crazy to think that I've followed ark since 2016, while never getting to experience it until 2020 saw the game slowly become what it is. I remember when the swamp and tundra were added to the island followed by the volcano being completely reworked. For the flaws that ark has, I'll always come back and play more of it

I, too, have very fond memories of my journey through early access-ARK. The pre-sickle era, for example, when fiber was used as currency on the server I played on, because it was so damn tedious to gather the stuff in large amounts. The introduction of the breeding mechanic and how obsessed some of the players became with it (there was one dude who set up his base in the snow biome and was focusing a ton of time on breeding nothing but Dire Wolves). Or the issues one could have when landing and dismounting fliers - before the ability to land the flier before dismounting it was a thing. Or when I stepped out of my cozy wooden house the day after the Spino was put into the game and found one of them wandering around almost on my doorstep (the surprise lasted only for a brief moment, of course, because of a sudden case of death, but it must have looked funny from the outside). Also some more annoying moments, like the "chinese invasion", but the good far outweighs the bad with this game for me.

@@jasoncarter3182My very first time trying to get obsidian from the volcano to take back to my base near the central southern coast: I flew there on a Ptera, dismounted near an obsidian rock, and the ptera flew halfway down the slope before landing right between 2 T-Rexes. Lets just say it was not a successful Obsidian run. lol Having to cross half the island on foot with nearly no equipment was an exciting adventure, though. Running with Raptors. Cavorting with Carnos. Sightseeing with Scorpions. All the good stuff...😇

I sure wish I had found your help videos when I first started playing. I figured out without any help, how to make a fire. What I couldn't figure out was how did I get it lit. It looked like it was made with wood so what did I do to make it burn. While I was trying to figure this out, night fell and I got killed by what I now know was an ichthy (stealy bird) ornis. The next problem that made me put up the game for a few years was really bad lag. Then my Techno brother moved in and built me a better computer. My how time flies. LOL

Quick note on the Weight stat: it's easy to over -level your weight, but then when you tame a dino, it doesn't have anywhere close to your weight stats, so you'll weigh them down without giving THEM a bunch of points in weight first. Especially early game when you're riding raptors and other smaller mounts.

If you're asking "what should I play on?" The answer is PC. (I'm a PS4 player). The interface is unquestionably set up for PC and the item transference and menu navigation is kind of cumbersome and I ENVY how quickly I see PC players move inventory around. Lack of Hot-Keys makes things harder too: having to pull up action wheels to perform actions that PC players have a dedicated key for. And, I imagine, it's a more stable platform, where you will encounter less of the dreaded blue screen. Whatever you do, it's an incredible game, and you'll have fun!!

I don't understand what's the main area to progress on coz in single player we can use cheats and get anything....so what's the platform to play on fairly.... I know you would say multiplayer but there are lots of unofficial servers what if I progress there and if server vanish my progress vanishes too

So whenever I add too many mods to my single player I get a fatal error when trying to log back onto the single player and validating files doesn’t help so I have to completely restart all my progress and it’s very frustrating, so I’m asking how many mods do you recommend I use so that I can beat a map for once with out a complete reset

Ark: SE is a 9 year old Complete Featured Game made in the Unreal Engine 4, Ark:SA is an Early Access title and not feature complete remade with more stuff in the Unreal Engine 5.
