I was surprised by that. There was a police chase in Gainesville, FL last year with an Isuzu box truck and the police tried pitting him a few times with Tahoes and they were just bouncing off of it and it was about the same size.

Facts, I was helping a friend move to Ohio and the U-Haul would barely get to 45 DOWNHILL, with the pedal to the floor. Uphill speeds were 15-30. When we picked up the truck from the rental place, the 2012 Ford truck only had 1,100 miles on it. Almost the entire trip was spent with the engine running near redline, a whopping 4 mpg average, and most of the time unable to get within a country mile of the speed limit... I also discovered "Tow Mode" on the transmission means "Never Shifting Out Of First Gear," so I turned that off - except when trying to avoid ramming all the brake-checkers on I-80 in Pennsylvania, several times I had to manually-downshift the automatic transmission to keep from launching someone down the side of the mountain. Ridiculous... And a harrowing, stress-filled "vacation." The truck wasn't anywhere near maximum hauling capacity. It took three adults about fifteen minutes to fully unload the truck once we reached Akron (it was half-full, the smaller truck my friend had ordered wasn't available so they "upgraded" us to the 25-footer), and about an hour to have the house mostly set up. Once the truck had been emptied, it was zippy and responsive. Move in the contents of a two-bedroom apartment, and it couldn't even pass its own shadow.

If I want to outrun the police, and I'm in a Cosworth Escort, I'd feel good about my chances. I'd have a few hundred horses, and some off road abilities.
