I know this is a good officer let alone driver and I'm not saying its his fault but the outcome could have been different if he had tried to break in time/stay to the right(in the dust as such) of the running dog. Again I obviously agree that the officer is not at fault nor that he could have foreseen the dog running into the roadway, in-turn preventing it, it just would have been nice to see. I'm sure this officer will feel bad for this for years to come, he shouldn't as this is simply a complete accident and the dog owner is at fault for not ensuring the dog could not get out into the roadway.

The same thing happened to me. It was an officer requesting assistance. Wet road, lights and siren and a cat ran in front of me. Couldn’t stop, swerve, etc. Sad 😢

Running with extra 60 pounds of equipment; bullet-resistant vest, weapon, clips, handcuffs, mace or pepper spray, baton, etc. That's a lot of extra weight a person has to wear. Every uniformed officer and deputy must wear every time they're on duty and patrol. Female officers and deputies wear custom-made vests.

I believe Officer Byrd felt more remorse for the death of that beloved dog that he hit at 2:26 than his response to the criminal behavior of the suspect. Ironic that the majority of humans and criminals have the ingenuity to understand the concepts of driving a car (don't kill things, including yourself) but don't apply them. I blame this on myself and you. Consider how much more we could regard in life if we just pulled over and confronted the situation. Only worthless cowards run from confrontational situations.
