Hello, I'm Daniel Howard, interim chancellor at Arkansas State University.
With a rich history that dates back more than 100 years, ASU is dedicated to empowering minds, enriching the lives of our students and having a positive impact on the world around us. Because our faculty and staff believe education is the great equalizer, ASU is committed to providing education that is challenging, accessible and affordable to as many students as possible. Thanks to our collaborative venture with Academic Partnerships, we are now able to expand our reach and make high quality education a reality for deserving students who were previously stifled by geographic and financial barriers.
Through its innovative learning management system - EPIC - Academic Partnerships is pioneering best-in-class distance learning. Over the past few years, Academic Partnerships has helped our distinguished faculty convert a number of academic programs and courses to this cutting-edge online delivery system that gives students anytime, anywhere, access to the same robust, fully-accredited course content our on-campus students enjoy. Just as importantly, this state-of-the-art delivery system not only maintains the academic integrity of ASU's offerings, but it makes pursuing an advanced degree very affordable.
I am pleased to say that through our relationship with Academic Partnerships, Arkansas State University now offers six NCATE approved master's degrees, six professional certifications and one post-graduate degree online through our College of Education. As of May 2011, nearly 1,000 teachers have graduated from these programs, and today we have more than 2,200 teachers enrolled in our online programs.
Testimonials from faculty members and students, feedback from school principals and superintendents, along with objective data all underscore the exceptional quality of these online programs. As a result, ASU will soon launch additional graduate and undergraduate programs within Arkansas and other states via the online technology platform and marketing expertise offered by Academic Partnerships.
