These is still very helpful, years later. Great work that has stood the test of time!

I've had this game on my wishlist for a long time now. I finally got it starting with the core set revised edition. These videos help out so much. Thanks for taking the time to help the new players learn. I'm a huge Love Craft fan so I'm already hooked on this game. Any recommendations on what campaign and investorgators to go for next. I'm looking at buying them by the box sets rather then individually. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day.

Welcome to the game! Glad to hear that you are finding the videos helpful. Buying the Investigator Expansions is a great way to try new investigators and build your card pool. Dunwich and Path to Carcosa are personal favourites. Some of my friends prefer The Forgotten Age. You can't really go wrong with any of them. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a line at the email address in the video description. Good luck on your adventures!

Skids ability can only be used on his turn, not on every player's turn, as specified on his ability text.

Being new to the game and challenged by the rules I often bog down not sure off the right understanding or interpretation of the rules. This will certainly help. How many In the Know vid are there already?

Just starting up the game and these videos are fantastic. If the outcome of a card or skill is to 'discover X clue tokens at your location', do tokens have to be available at the location to be discovered or can the be plucked out of thin air from locations that do not have tokens on them? Thanks!!!
@TheWhispererinDarkness4 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the game! There must be clues on the location to discover. You can't take clues from the token pool unless directed by an effect. That type of effect is very rare.

Can you advance the act deck during any player window? The Rules Reference says under "Clues" (p. 7): "If there are no “Objective - ” requirements for advancing the current act, during any investigator’s turn the investigators may, as a group, spend the requisite number of clues (usually conveyed as a “per investigator” value) from their investigator cards to advance the act deck." Now I'm confused! Could you please shed some light on this?
@TheWhispererinDarkness5 жыл бұрын
Yes. I believe the information under clues was copies directly from the basic rules, which are somewhat misleading on this topic. The correct reference is on page 3 under Act Deck and Agenda Deck. In addition, I have spoken with designer Matt Newman about the issue, and he confirmed that advancing the act deck is normally done as a free triggered ability.

So you can spend more than one resource on “Free Triggered Abilities” to increase their power?

Yes

I have a question concerning the Scavenging example. Since the reaction triggered ability begins with the word “after” I would say that the ability may be used after step 7 (not after step 6, as you mention). Instead, if it began with the word “when”, it might be used after step 6. In any case, in both situations, not later than step 8. Am I right?
@TheWhispererinDarkness5 жыл бұрын
The terminology in the game can be confusing, but the Rules Reference differentiates between 'after' and 'when'. According to the page 4 of the Rules Reference, "The word 'after' refers to the moment immediately after the specified timing point or triggering condition has fully resolved." Since the success or failure of a skill test resolves during Step 6 (p. 26 RR), Scavenging resolves then. According to page 21 of the Rules Reference, "The word “when” refers to the moment immediately after the specified timing point or triggering condition initiates, but before its impact upon the game state resolves." The example provided by the Rules Reference is as follows: "an ability that reads “When you draw an enemy card” initiates immediately after you draw the enemy card, but before resolving its revelation ability, spawning it." To summarize, 'After' occurs immediately after a triggering conditions fully resolves, while 'when' occurs between the initiation and resolution of a triggering condition. I hope that helps.

The Whisperer in Darkness , in my opinion, the resolution of the success would be at step 7, since at that moment the impact of the triggered ability has resolved (in this case earning a clue as a result of a successful investigation). At step 7, no impact has yet occurred on the state of the game. Rules can be sometimes confusing, you are right.

@@ramonsarrate9146 You are certainly welcome to your opinions; however, the FAQ does not support your position. As it states on Page 5: Response or Forced abilities with a triggering condition dependent upon the skill test being successful or unsuccessful (such as “After you successfully investigate,” or “After you fail a skill test by 2 or more”) do not trigger at this time. These abilities are triggered during Step 6, “Determine success/failure of skill test.”
@ramonsarrate91465 жыл бұрын
The Whisperer in Darkness Thanks for this FAQ remark. Then any Forced or free triggered ability related to a skill test will resolve previously to any other kind of effect.

Gabby Domingo I’m pretty sure this is in the rules reference, and includes both cards you’ve played down as well as those in your current hand. HTH
