It's heartwrenching to see the dad would burn out the last of his life to try to give his kid a chance at different life only for the child to come back, pick up his daggers and continue on his. The cycle of violence continuing to be perpetuated truly drives in the idea of the Sarkaz being cursed to carry on such a life despite their efforts to escape it.

As long as you've read Darknights Memoir, this is totally watchable. But it's still your choice to watch it after SideStory [Babel] (which will come out on 2-3 months later) to get the best experience. Tip: It has just a little bit to do with the 5th Anniversary patch (as it comes out on the Anni celebration stream), not any lore-wise problem.

Probably not. Sarkaz is sadly species, who once controlled the continent of Terra, now has his homeland torn apart and his people displaced, leaving only the last city of Kazdal. And the mark left in their blood by their ancestors is endless killing and hatred. Most of the Sarkaz will serve as mercenaries and kill on the battlefield during wartime. But the mood they embrace is not the glory of their ancestors on the battlefield, but just to make ends meet. No matter what they think, they will eventually be part of this huge chain of hatred like a curse. W was one of Sarkaz mercenary leader. Everything her saw and her known is "kill" until her met Theresia. W believe that she can lead another way then join to the Babel, an organization dedicated to establishing equal communication for all species. This video start behind Theresia assassinated. W was angry and tried to kill everyone who join assassination squad. A squad member tried to let the child run away to nomadic city. W(anger) said:"Run away?To where?You won`t make it there, neither will she". This monent, the anger probably make her kill the child too. However, when she saw the child picked dagger up, she suddenly recalled that she was one of them, children of inherit dagger. And she realized that she was once again involved in the cursed chain of hatred. Same question appear in her mind "Run away?To where?" Theresia has gave answer of this question. She pointed the way of Sarkaz. We did not saw the ending of the child. But we know W was next prolocutor of Babel and carried on Theresia `s unfulfilled wish. Therefore, I believe she cut the cursed chain rather than kill the child.😭

Killing the child wouldn't make much sense. She's a bit messed up in the head considering she was a child soldier and yet survived from all of the shit, but she never been the one thrilled at the idea of offing a child as proved in Darknights Memoir side story (or probably Operational Intelligence, I forgor), where she spared children during Reunion crisis, which happened after Theresa's assassination and W and Ascalon going into rampage hunting down everyone involved to it. She most likely only knocked down the child, brought her to the nearest nomadic city, and scram in usual W's style before the child woke up,.

​@@Exath8630 from the same Darknights Memoir story event, the idea of picking up a weapon of a dead sarkaz has a special meaning for them. Something among the lines of assuming their identity with all consequences. Honestly speaking it doesn't do a great job with motivating W to spare her. Though you're right, she has this weird gap of being a softie sometimes. And on the scenario structure level it's just a lost opportunity to make such a good reference to just cut things off right there.
