Typhon has definitely higher dps, but her slower attack speed makes large hordes of smaller enemies difficult. Thorns has lower dps, but faster skill proc, and the defence and the block in being a guard is also a game changer. Depends of what you’re looking for, really. If you use them both, everything will just melt. I feel like using thorns, fiametta, and typhon togehter in an annihalation will be amazing.

Thorns being faster to charge is reliant on him attacking enemies 100% of the time. In many maps he’ll probably be 30+ seconds behind Typhon for 2nd activation. Granted this still doesn’t change the fact that Thorns has the inherent upsides of doing this as a guard. Imo Thorns feels like he’s in the middle ground for infinite physical skills now with good sustain, block, and ranged dmg but falling far behind Typhon for ranged damage and Chongyue for ground and AoE. The latter two trading survivability for the best constant damage that even works against high defensive

(Not gonna count stainless cuz not everyone has him) In most stages, there’s going to be at the very least, a small gap between enemies meaning in actual use Typhon will beat him out.

It looks like you are trading block and healing (plus I think a lower dp cost?) to have wider range and better damage versus the bigger targets. Anything thorns can one shot though he's better against. Not too bad really. I was worried she would be really op but it looks like it's fairly well balanced. Good job HG for once the balance team didn't screw up.

Not really. As long as they don't come in frequent batches, she can kill enemies before they even come into the range he can kill them at. It's only when the enemies are in a constant stream that she starts lagging behind. Most maps however have smaller waves that she will easily keep up with, and the fact that she won't start being overwhelmed when a heavy tank decides to mix in makes her generally more commonly 'on top'. That...and the fact that her skill charges with time, not attacks. Though she does trade block, that's true.

no, thorns has not been powercrept. in fact, its not fair to compare operators cross class as they both fill different niches and roles. just because typhon s2 is infinite duration doesnt mean its a fair comparison with thorns s3. if you absolutely must compare typhon with someone, rosa is a more sensible comparison since they both fill similar roles with damage and cc on their skill 3, and that can be summarized to rosa has damage and consistent cc while Typhon has range

Skill 3 of Rosa can't be compared to any skill of Typhon, but you can compare both of their S2. Benchmarking infinite afk dps skills is fair even if it is cross class though, and this video clearly shows some weaknesses of both Thorns and Typhon, which means it shows you when you should bring one over the other if it is not possible to bring both. Typhon has the CC and the oonga boonga damage, but she has plenty of other weaknesses as you can see.

also having more ops as lane holder are nice too and so far there are only few lane holder on AK like thorns, blaze, mountain, mudrock, penance, 3 AH (excluding guard skadi and andreana) and estelle. although keep in mind that on normal gameplay (without mumu glitch) tyhpon wont be able to replace thorns when it come to Invincible enemies since she cant block them like thorns unless we added another ops as support/blocking.

They both have different roles, I'd use both cuz I think they make good dual. Thorn being thorn, clearing ads while blocking, typhon targets heavy and beefy elites so they can't reach thorn (or DELETE bosses if you use S3) while having a huge range for more creative/easy positioning.

seeing this, i wanna get typhon as both of them kinda complement each other's strengths while covering for each other's weaknesses both are AFK ops, while typhon has higher damage it can be overkill for peons, which thorns takes care of with ease. the latter cannot take care of elites/bosses so typhon is there to wear them down for the former to focus on the smaller mobs.

Thorns's Lane Holder capability is faraway from Typhon with a considerable range, consistent mid damage and amazing solo capability But versatility ain't play normally. Typhon can destroy any medium-frontliner unit, overtime and with a doubletap AX-50, she ain't weak at all. If you don't have Thorns, she already good enough to replace. Both can go with an Block-3 unit and the whole lane is fine tho

I can imagine permanent skill uptime would eventually give Typhon the edge? Not to mention she has small stuns which can be useful. I haven't really seen any numbers yet though. Doesn't Rosa only ignore defence on heavy enemies? I also wonder what if there is only one target, Typhon will start double tapping that target with her S2.

I disagree she is better. She doesn't have any block or healing and I think a higher dp cost so she can't be used as an opener on a stage like thorns can. She also can hit anything right next to her so positioning her could be a bit awkward. Also Thorns performed better against the swarm of light mobs. In the end it looks like Thorns is good to deploy early on and he may fall off later but you can deploy Typhon later to cover for that. They have opposite strengths and weaknesses and I think it's a well balanced unit in this regard.
