I went to my first Mass this morning. Coming from a Protestant church in childhood and being away for 11 years or so, I was confused most of the time yet so humbled by the way it was said and the reverence everyone showed. Overwhelming yet grateful that the Lord is calling His prodigal son home. Thank you for the explanation.

Jesus never said to have a mass, never said to build altars and tabernacles and re-represent the sacrifice, did He. No apostle ever said a mass or mentioned a eucharist. We know the apostles wrote the inspired a word of God. No one knows who wrote the the Didache. Justin Martyn’s writings are not inspired. Jesus never said He would transport Roman Catholics “out of time.” Jesus’ body rose and scripture says He sits at the right hand of God and scripture states he and his body will not return to earth until the Second Coming, which means He is not on Roman Catholic altars. If Roman Catholics truly thought the Lord, Jesus Christ, was on their altars and they were about to swallow him, they would fall on their faces in awe and terror as Peter, James, and John, did at the Transfiguration? Transubstantiation was never taught by any apostle. It became a doctrine in 1215AD 1100 years after Jesus with lies by Aquinas stealing the ideas of elements and substances from Aristotle. You are being deceived.

While in Japan, the congregation was very mixed, with a congregation from Thailand, India, Japan and the US. To help keep us on the same page, we were all issued a printed, multilingual Order of Mass booklet. Love it, especially because it is essentially a script for everyone, both the priest and the congregation, so we can follow along. I've carried the book with me, along with my Bible. Now, I'm in the Philippines and people really want copies of my booklet. I wish I'd had such a thing as a child, and wish it was a standard companion for all members.

This is amazing! It is exactly the same sacrificial system in the Old Testament as well! When they brought a lamb to the outer court they were looking to the future to the lamb whose death would take the sins of the world! One can imagine yourself as an ancient Israelite but instead of bringing a lamb, the lamb is now provided in the form of Jesus.

Thank you for explaining all of this. You are a good teacher. I have many questions, but I will ask just one now. Since the mass celebrates the sacrifice Christ made through his crucifixion and triumphant resurrection, why is the mass not more joyous, more jubilant? I have been attending mass in recent months, and it is much as I remember it as a child in the mid 20th century, which is to say very serious and rather sad. I do believe it is serious, but why is it so sad? Or, is that just my interpretation?
@fernandodavidtrabaninofran45663 ай бұрын
There are masses that are happier than others, the more traditional a mass, the more solemn it is, therefore it can seem sadder, there are groups in the Catholic Church that are allowed to make certain variations in the mass that make it more joyful, such as For example, the masses of the neocatechumenal path, the celebrations of the charismatic renewal or the Zaire masses in Africa, in them you can see more joy when celebrating Jesus. This only reflects the universality of the Church and the message of the Lord.

Hebrew 10: 10-12 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
@vtslglen Жыл бұрын
A major point of this passage has been that animal sacrifices could never permanently take away human sin (Hebrews 9:9-10). If they could, then there would be no point in offering them over and over (Hebrews 10:1-2). These temporary measures were only meant to foreshadow our need for Christ. Here, the writer once again makes the point that Christ's sacrifice was a single, perfect, permanent action.

Sometimes the flesh demands a deeper understanding and stronger reasons to keep our faith undeterred by the many voices, faces and manipulations presented by darkness. Seek answers wherever God sends you but be careful with allowing human impulse to win and test your faith. I believe we try embrace and be present with the Holy Spirit but in the process we can forget to defend our faith aggressively. The Bible talks about defending our faith with conviction because so many of us tend to question our faith at one point or another. Another approach may be to bring it up during Confession. Priests have pretty much heard it all and are experts at helping Gods sheep find the light. Hang in there. You’re not alone. Keep asking for answers. ❤❤

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is not a sacrifice & a meal. The goes against the dogmatic definition at the Council of Trent. “The Novus Ordo represents, both as a whole and in its details, a striking departure from the Catholic theology of the Mass as it was formulated in Session XXIl of the Council of Trent." extract from the Ottaviani intervention.

Verses 12 and 13 repeat images applied to Christ in earlier verses. Christ was previously described as "seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven" (Hebrews 8:1). This phrase symbolizes two important aspects of Christ and His ministry. First is the idea of Christ "sitting down," implying that His work is finished. The prior verse specifically referred to the old covenant priests as "standing," a contrast which shows their work was never done. The second image is that of Christ's position at the right hand of God. Symbolically, this was the seat of ultimate honor and power. The following verse will, again, repeat a claim about the Messiah which was made in the Old Testament.
