When I was a teenager one of my first jobs was at a cash-heavy business. I was a 16 yo girl, a little over 5 ft tall & would blow over in a medium gust of wind & I would end up carrying tens of thousands of dollars a day around an isolated island largely without other staff support. The business had a doberman for security. He was AMAZING. Such a well trained dog, sweet as you can imagine UNTIL someone displayed aggressive body-language or anything. He was amazingly sensitive to changes in tension, tone, and suspicious behaviour. You'd see this change in him, sometimes before you even noticed the dodgy person nearby, where one second he was crunching on carrot bits you'd hand-feed him & letting me rub his tummy & in another second he was alert & watchful. He'd put himself physically between me & anyone who might pose a threat. There was a scary night where a man tried to rob me with a knife & I don't know what would have happened if Otis hadn't been there. It was a terrifying situation & Otis appeared as if by magic (I didn't even know he was nearby) & COMPLETELY subdued the intruder. He didn't attack him, he didn't need to. But the man ended up sitting like a child outside the principal's office with the knife on the floor until the security team arrived & took over. Otis stood almost over the man growling with such ferocity & attention that it seemed 100% certain this dog would straight up kill the guy if his posture changed. The guy, who seemed enormous & terrifying one moment, was suddenly as docile as a choir boy. Otis, you were SUCH a good boy & I still miss you. RIP you legend. You were a tough guy with a heart of gold.

Wow, what an incredible story! Otis sounds like an amazing dog with an incredible sense of duty and loyalty. It's heartwarming to hear how he protected you and had such a profound impact on your life. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to a true legend. RIP, Otis. 🐾❤️

@@ProtectionDogsWorldWide He was SUCH an amazing dog, I still get tears in my eyes remembering him & it's been a long time. Got a few other 'Otis to the rescue' stories but that was the most dramatic. People used to call him my 'coworker'. I'd work year round part-time & full time during summer for 3 years there. But even when I left (for Uni) I kept visiting Otis (or Oaty) & he always remembered me, even when he retired & when he crossed the rainbow bridge his owners (my old bosses) sent me a card with one of his registration tags in it (which I kept, it's special). Grew up on a farm with a bunch of animals & we had herding dogs & ratting dogs & now I volunteer at the SPCA & always have at least one adopted dog (the ones who find it hard to get adopted join my family). They really are our best friends. RIP Otis. You were our guardian angel & I hope you knew how much we adored you, you GOOD BOY xx

No better breed loaded with brains, brawn and beauty. A well bred Doberman Pinscher is the greatest all around personal protection dog in the world. They were the only breed bred from day one to be a personal protection dog and their intelligence combined with loyalty is phenomenal.

Went for a bike ride at a park here in the EU today, and as I was passing by, two big Dobermans suddenly started running toward me. Their owner was nearby, watching calmly, so I figured they weren’t aggressive.....but I still felt a surge of panic as they got closer. It turned out they were just fascinated by my bicycle wheels, barking and chasing alongside me more out of curiosity than anything else. Once they’d had their fun, they trotted back to their owner........ It definitely got my heart pumping...........

Wow this is impressive ❤ love this breed, I'm at my 5th doberman, he's only 8 months amazingly intelligent with excellent drive the only thing that makes me sad is that he's got hip displasia, just found out last week, my husband is animent about returning him back to the breeder myself on the other hand I will go through what it takes for surgery to correct his hip so that he could have a comfortable well loved life with me! I love him so much, he's a devil within! 😊
@ArianMo11 ай бұрын
With hip displasya you just can't work him hard or Go for verry long walks and stuff like that,but He can BE a family dog and protector even with that diagnosis. You should let him stay.....I think the breeder will Put him down in worst case and you said it IS a dog with nice charakter,so he is worth a good Home ! In Most cases you don't need Operation,but No Long walks,No jumping and No steps to Go,then IT should be fine.

My mum used to breed dobes when I was a kid, I was gifted one on my birthday. We were inseparable, no lead needed with me. Stupid as a fart in a paper bag till it was time to work then he was all business. I grew up on an estate next to Crystal Palace park and he stopped me from getting robbed in the park, the guy didn’t know I had a dog with me until I told him zen was standing behind him, he didn’t turn around just laughed the “yeah right” laugh, I’ll never forget the look on his face when I told zen to speak.

That's priceless. Dobe's have mad stealth capability. Mine's startled a share of passerbys. Her game is to trail them at a five o'clock position 10 to 15 yards back. Only one person ever noticed. Startled the young fella. She just sat down and "studied" him. I hollered "Hi" and gave a down command. (Dropped down like a rock). He said "Hi" and we exchanged waves. Told her come and she ripped up turf to run back. Sat down beside me and just kept studying him.. Not a peep out of her. Appreciate your story. Thanks for bringing back that memory.

Can you explain why your dogs have cropped ears? Its illegal and not necessary
@SCORPIOPATRIQT815 ай бұрын
Well when you don't crop their ears ... They look like coon dogs . If I'm buying a Dobbie I want a doberman not a coondog... If you go to the dentist and your mouth is numbed and surgery is performed like ripping out your molar's is there really much of a difference or when a pet is fixed donkeys. People are way to sensitive a damn dog bite from another dog hurts more than this stuff and that's natural behavior lol. It's common.
@SCORPIOPATRIQT815 ай бұрын
Beside that there's sometimes some trimming but it's usually just a small portion trimmed and then the process is holding the ears up using tape and popcycle sticks 😄
