Your so funny i love the way you deliver the video. I did have 1 question when u did the 20 miles ride was that all done at level 5 assistance im trying to get a guage of how far you could resonably go using there level 1 or eco mode.

Perhaps a couple more decades to go, before their price matches their range. Not going to go bankrupt for range anxiety. If it can't do 40 miles over the Brecons on max assist for £400, I ain't gonna waste my money.

There aren't any £400 bikes that can go for 40 miles over the Brecons at max assist. In fact, I was being a tad conservative - I think you might get more like 50 miles+ out of this one. If you're fat. If, on the other hand, you're a light person riding on a hot day in Holland, you might double that.

@@arlo.guthrie I know there aren't which is why i haven't yet bothered. During the summer i do 40 miles in the mornings on a bike that cost less than £200 with an average speed of an ebike eco mode. What im looking for in an ebike is one that ain't scared of bike steep hills, 8 hours max assist. If i wanted exercise.. I have two bikes for that already. 250W, 48V, 30Ah around about. Probably cheaper to get a US import.

I got my Gin bike towards the end of March and have been pleasantly surprised by the seventy miles on a full charge claim turning out to be more than accurate. From what I could gather when researching ebikes (that led me to buying the Gin X), it seems the norm to halve whatever claim the sellers are making about the distance and range of their bikes. This is because what struck me early on was reading lots of buyers saying that although the ebike they bought advertised a range of, for example, forty miles, the truth was it did half that. I knew nothing of how to work it all out until speaking with a technician who does conversions, who explained that it is all down to the storage size of the battery. Nothing mysterious at all about it, apart from the blurbastic voodoo generated by various large corporate social-media salesfolk fresh out of Digital Marketing College. My initial thought was to do a conversion, but once the technician said it was a minimum of £600 for a decent enough battery and hub, I decided that it may be better in the long run to just pay an extra four hundred and go with the Gin X; that had caught my eye due to a combination of its specs and upfront social-media sales strategy in which a very straightforward two person team let the bike sell itself. I then noticed that, unlike the duo at Gin X, many ebike retailers facelessly attempt to blind and bamboozle the prospective customer with flashy soulless sales techniques that harness the eco-buzz around ebikes, to peddle their brand of ebike without mentioning - or mentioning only in the tucked away small print - the size of its battery. The single most relevant and important specification any honest broker would begin our ABC Introduction to ebikes with. The first run I took my Gin ebike out on was North and East of my local area, which is a large flat plain, and so tried it out first on varied terrain, with lots of hills and long inclines, and did 35 miles on just less than half a full charge. After getting used to the bike, when the initial buzz and novelty of first having it had worn off, it occurred to me to see how far I could get out of it using only pedal assist level one. Which was not an exhausting challenge as my most usual runs on a pedal bike are all on pretty flat terrain. I steadfastly didn't move it out of pedal assist level one, and after several days was over one hundred miles and still with well over fifty percent of battery left. It struck me that this data is not something I had read about anywhere, and so rang Rahul to tell him of my impromptu experimental exercise, and said I would not drain the battery completely as that could backfire on me by messing up future charges; and so I stopped the exercise at 170 miles and with 35% charge still left in the battery. Bear in mind I am fit though overweight, at 18 stone, and so all in all, as ebikes go, so far, I am well pleased with my purchase. And, to be honest, feeling slightly smug whenever I spot the black North Face clad chavs turning their heads as I glide past them on their Halfords tat. One young lad a week ago saw me going up a hill at fifteen mph, and engaged in a strange yoof ritual of peeling away from his pals, madly pedalling up alongside me on his more flashy, less thoughtfully mass produced ebike, before deciding he'd had enough and returning to his comrades on the not so mean streets of the very aspirational middle-class area I was cycling through at the time this somewhat bizarre socio-culturally competitive incident occurred. Anyway, just thought I would drop a comment documenting my own experience as a genuine, and more than satisfied customer of the Gin X brand. Sláinte
