Hi everyone, at about 30 seconds in I misspoke and said “you don’t need your violin” but I meant you don’t need your BOW😅🎻✨

Hey Amber, isn't what you say around 1:56 contradict what you say in your other video with 3 vibrato tips where you suggest putting yoir finger more flat on the string to get more surface area for vibrato as opposed to just the fingertip to get fuller.vibrato sound? Or did I misunderstand?

@@leif1075 hey there! First of all, you get a gold star for being an awesome student!!!🌟🌟🌟🎻🎶✨ what you want to avoid are extreme positions...you don’t want to be on the extreme tip of the finger and you don’t want to be smooshing the finger on too much of the pad. The first option will give you a thin sound, create a ridged and locked finger...and the second option will give you a mushy sound and death grip from pressing the finger. It’s a delicate balance (like eeeeverything on the violin or viola😅🎻) having good form helps you to create a beautiful sound, and do what you want to do with less work and more ease. Find the in between place between finger tip and pad....actually this would a great video to discuss🙏 thaaaank you🌷🎻 I hope this helps a little??

@@ViolinViolaMasterclass Yes also how does arm vibrato ultimately work since i dont see how one csn eventually move the whole arm fast enough to create the vibrato sound same as with the wrist..i dont see how the left hand can slide up.and down the violin body fast enough

Thank you Amber! If anyone out there is having difficulty with vibrato it might help to know that it took me a whole YEAR (as an adult learner) before I could do vibrato at all. Eventually it started to work. You just have to keep trying trying trying. Eventually those muscles start responding and working. Even after 2 years my vibrato's not great, but it's improving all the time. I started with wrist vibrato, and am now trying to get a more reliable arm vibrato. Eventually vibrato becomes a combination of arm and wrist (it sems to me), and depends on what note/finger/position as to what is best to use when.

I am a big fan of this channel - but I heard some really funny "viola' jokes on another viola player's channel and you have a great sense of humor - so: 1. Q. why do you always see viola players standing outside their houses? A. because they can't find the key and they don't know when to come in. 2. Q. Why are violaists like lightening? A. because they never hit the same spot twice. 3. Q. how do you keep your violin from being stolen? A. put it in a viola case. all told with love and respect. p.s. - I am a patreon but can't get into your patreon page - what's the map?

Thanks Amber! I need to set up some lessons through Patreon with you. Vibrato on the guitar is totally different from vibrato on the violin. Wrist vibrato I just barely got on the violin. I'll stick with that, but I want to learn arm vibrato too! Take care!

Hey Michael!! Thank you☺️🎻 yeah I don’t use a lot of vibrato either!! I like the pure tone much better (in many cases) unless it’s a reeeeally beautiful vibrato. Hope you’re doing well 💎🎻
