A: i7 6700k, Geforce GTX 970, 16 gigs of ram, 250 gig SSD, 500 gig SSD

A: OBS for video and system audio; Audacity for personal audio.

A: I'm a 3rd person gamer. I hate first person. Please don't try to "convince" me otherwise as if I am unaware of the gaming style I prefer.

A: US Army 99-06, Radio Operator(25C). Non-Combat Veteran.
Q: Is that AI or real people?
A: If it's an ArmA Mission it's AI unless I very specifically state otherwise. The 506th doesn't PvP.
Q: What ArmA 3 mods do you use?
A: CUP Terrains, RHS Escalation, CBA A3, TFAR, ACE3, cTab, FHQ Accessories, DAR MAXXPROs, mrb A3 Voice Stop, Switch Weapons While Moving, Ares/Achilles, Splendid Smoke, MRT Accessories Functions, Mighty GAU-8, ACSZ Missing Content, Cypress Push to Hear, BaBe Mid Range Texture Fixes, Mao Sway and Recoil Fix, ZEC Templates, Enhanced Movement, Project OPFOR, RH Accessories
For SF missions: VSM Gear, TRYK Gear, MOCAP Melee mod, MCC, Robert Hammer Pistols, and a variety of ArmA community maps.
I am no longer using any iteration of JSRS due to the problems it causes on servers. It was discovered in Feb 2015 that all versions of JSRS for the past 4 years have been causing massive amounts of errors on dedicated servers so it has stopped being used and I don't use another sound mod. This includes JSRS Lite.
Q: Can you upload that mission so I can play it?
A: Nearly all of the missions I play are dynamically created by someone controlling Zeus in ArmA. They are therefore not available for upload.
Q: No debrief?
A: When we debrief in game I leave it in. We very rarely debrief in game. Debriefs are rare, not the norm, and they never will be.
Q: Why don't you do X when you Zeus?
A: I Zeus by a very strict set of guidelines set forth by my ArmA unit to maximize the fun of the people in the mission for whom I am Zeusing. The goal is fun, not punishment. I don't need a hundred Monday morning quarterbacks telling me "what I should have done" or "how I would have done it" or "how this other person does it". All I need is for my guys to say they had fun at the end of the mission and I know I did it right.

I've just bought Arma 3. This looks awesome. How does a person get to play a scenario like this?

It can be sort of a journey to get there, but nothing too crazy. ARMA is just so much more complex than other shooters, and the controls can be a bit awkward to learn. You'll want to be at least somewhat proficient before joining something like this, but people were pretty helpful in my limited experience playing online. Other than that, you might just have to install a custom map or mod. I would love to play online more, but I've mostly played SP because I just like to play on my own time without people waiting on me. It's fun to control a couple of AI squads when you get the hang of it, (and when the AI decides to cooperate).

I agree with Ben Cooper. I'm a Vietnam vet 100% with PTSD. I started playing shooter games when they first came out, starting with Doom, and have played many since then including Far Cry 2, Battlefield 3 and started Arma 3 recently. I think they helped me. Multi-player games depend on if you can join a group of mature players you can stand to be with. There are some groups in the Arma games that are like that. Once you've been in combat, you will always miss the responsibility and the seriousness of it, and they play seriously. However Arma 3 is very difficult to learn to play. There's a simpler multi-player game, Planetside 2. Some of the "Outfits" in that game are good to be with, but there are plenty of jerks also. I recommend you have a talk with your bro about this. Most people just can't see themselves playing a video game, and your bro might be like that. Good luck. Perhaps he needs to go to the VA outreach in his area. Just being with soldiers who know the score was a great help for me. Good luck and God bless both of you.

Id say try Squad honestly. Its slower paced than cod or 'modern' fps trash but faster than this and also requires teamwork and constant communication. Squad community takes it pretty serious id say. Definitely my top 5 'games'.
