Toggling between crouch and stand is X, pressing W+S simultaneously changes your non-sprint speed from fast to slow. C puts you in 'tactical'. To keep the grass from blocking your view while prone, press Q and/or E while prone. This makes you roll over, which flattens grass. Also, although I know you didn't ask for it, you can go into a 'picnic' sitting position by pressing the apostrophe button, you can do a salute by pressing "\" and you can put your gun down by pressing CTRL twice.

Bohemia, you are making one hell of a progress now, not only this game in its Alpha stage looks so smooth and simply beautiful, you are also fixing all the major issues previous Arma had. Thanks. I had it explained to me in the forum. I knew that 'X' was 'stand up,' but when I was already standing up, I didn't realize that pressing it again would cause me to crouch. ('Crouch' was listed in the control options, but there was no key given for it.) There were other things like that - a LOT of them. It's not hard to understand, once you're told about them. But going in blind is another story. (I had made notes of the key mapping, but that was of limited help.)
@Bill_Garthright11 жыл бұрын
The forum really helped me, and so did a video by SideStrafe. The best thing EVER was learning that I could very easily go into the editor and experiment with the controls there, while enemies weren't shooting at me. :) When you have time to experiment, it's not so hard (although a few things really require some basic explanation first). Of course, it won't be easy to remember all that, not at first, but at least I'm not completely lost. Try the editor, if you haven't already. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this informative video. Your points are concise, clear whilst appropriately short. What I like most are the new features in Arma 3 as opposed to Arma 2 and how it has become more fluid. I liked Arma 2's vast-ness, but as with many people, the movement was a little "unnatural". With Arma 3 going with a more fluid approach, I hope we will see many more people willing to get into it.

Trust me, even though this is an advanced simulation, you'll be glad once you mastered it. It was really cumbersome to live by the limitations before. I feel "free" now while in combat and not as limited as I used to be in older games.

First of all, good video Dslyecxi. Very Concise. Arma 3 looks impressive so far. Here are my thoughts (apologies if someone else has already brought these up or these are being addressed). - It would be nice if grenades were aimed with the free hand. - 1st person should have an indicator to show what stance/substance the avatar is in. - If weapon resting is implemented, it should be how it is in the Red Orchestra series. - Low-ready position? (nice that it is at least used in jogging)

I'm a veteran of O.I.F (operation Iraqi freedom), and I will be completely honest here. Arma 3 is by far, the absolute most realistic looking and functioning game that I have ever seen. Fact: Military Simulation Training Modules do not even look or operate at this quality of mechanics. What Arma has become is something that I cannot describe. It truly leaves me speechless. I cannot wait for the final finished product to be released.

This is a great video, I am not a regular Arma player and you still made this interesting and enjoyable to watch as well as so well explained and this definetly makes me more confident about the Day Z standalone because I did have huuuge gripes about the controls for the mod, thanks a lot for this video.

Am I the only one who finds the high and low prone poses hilarious? :P One looks like your legs are dislocated and hanging limply in front of you, the other looks like you decided to give up and flop to the ground in a manner similar to that of a fish out of water. Still, I love these features, so useful :P
