I think I just learned more in the 30min than in hours of other videos. Thanks

Absolutely stunning build Jamie! 👌👏 All the attention to detail has definitely been worth it and wow does it look incredible! You make it look and sound so easy! Having said that, your commentary and explanations are straightforward and easy to follow. Fantastic series of vids, really enjoyed them. Cheers mate Bobby

I thoroughly enjoyed your video build of this kit, Jamie! Really appreciate the time you took to explain your painting and weathering techniques. A superb looking Ki-84! I'm looking forward to building mine now.

Sensational stuff. You really pulled off the variance on the metal. Probably the best video I have seen on how to acheive a realistic NMF.

You have really raised my appreciation for 1/72nd scale modeling, something I always avoided - but having watched your builds and the quality of the ARMA kits, might just have to give it a go - thanks for sharing

Great video, Jamie 👍👍. Thank you. I see you are stationed far away from home. It would be nice for you to make a video on what tools and materials you carry when you're not home and how you transport them. Sorry if I am just adding more suggestion to your busy schedule. Hope you're getting better. Cheers.

Hi Juan. I have all my modelling gear out here so I don't travel with it. What I will do though is bring out paints when I need them, maybe I'll do a quick video on that? I'm pretty much back to normal now thank you.

It does look fantastic. I'm so glad you didn't blacken the panel lines. Some modelers take that to an extreme.

It's all about getting the correct contrast and choosing a tone which compliments the underlying colour.

I don't have any of that so just adding a tiny drop of red to what I have already saves me $$$!

Jamie really enjoyed watching this build and have this kit on order. Is your sludge wash neat or thinned at all?
@thescalemodellingcafe Жыл бұрын
Thanks Adie, it's thinned a bit, so it doesn't quite run with capillary action

Very impressive all the weather really made it a stunner, I have two questions, on the post shading you did with the airbrush, I really like the look but my skills with an airbrush are not great and I couldnt do that could i get a similar affect using oils instead like you did under the aircraft? also I know you didned varnish yours before weather but just painted my 109 with life color arcylics would you say a satin varnish or gloss varnish would be best before I start weathering?
@thescalemodellingcafe2 жыл бұрын
Post shading as with everything mate, is just down to practice. Experiment with thinner ratios, air pressure, distance from the model and keep going, you'll get there. I didn't varnish, the Alclad dries rock hard so the enamel thinner won't affect it. I've never been able to get Life Color paints to work! But I recommend polishing the surface with some micro mesh or well worn fine sanding sponge and then sealing with a lacquer varnish.

I'm a big fan of weathering but this time it's a little bit too much in my opinion. Especially on Hinomaru which were renewed barely after each mission by the ground crews.
@thescalemodellingcafe Жыл бұрын
It probably is, but modelling is not all about accuracy, it's not the be all and end all. Artistic license is what we use to get creative, and have fun.

So…this was an advert for Ammo? Ever thought about saving money by taking the undercarriage outside and dipping it in some muck?
@thescalemodellingcafe2 жыл бұрын
I do love Ammo's products and I do do articles for them and have done research for paint colours so we help each other out. But I use lots of other manufacturers' stuff too, sometimes! 😁
