Do you mind trying an idea for a game mode for me? Since I don’t have an SSD Ok so it goes something along the lines of an Ambush with different phases for reinforcements. The rebels find out about a prototype ssd and send a fleet to destroy it. Both opening fleets start with 600 to 800 points with the Imperials required to have an ssd in the initial deployment. Imperials get 1 reinforcements phase for 500 points while the rebels get 3 for 100-200-300. For initial deployment the imps will get either 700 or 800 while the rebels will get 100 less from that number. Hence the extra hundred in the reinforcements. The Imperials deploy first, and can’t deploy in battle formations and must be atleast 6 inches away from the border of the game on all sides. The rebels can replay in any side they want the 1 stipulation of this is that they can’t deploy directly behind an imperial Ship and can’t deploy within weapons range of the ssd. They can take into account the full extent of Imperial positioning. Now on to how the reinforcements will work, all reinforcement locations must be determined before the game starts and cannot be changed or told to either opponents. I’d write them down to not for get them, enemy reinforcements can arrive behind your ships. You will need 2 six sided dice to determine when you get reinforcements. You can start rolling after 4 turns, rebels will need even number doubles to get reinforcements and Imperials will need odd number doubles. Every 4 turns after reinforcements arrive you can start rolling for reinforcements. Now on to special rules. These will be what makes or breaks a fleet, or atleast that’s the hope. Upon starting the Battle the rebels have a chance to remain hidden depending on what they’ve brought to battle. The Rebels are only allowed 1 large type ship in the initial deployment and can’t get another until the 3rd deployment. Now onto how the Rebels can remain hidden, well with either 600 to 700 points the rebels have an array of different ships they can deploy, each with buffs or debuffs. As mentioned earlier they are able to bring only 1 large ship but if they do all ships and fighters start off spotted. If they bring mediums as their largest ships then only then mediums are spotted. But if they only bring lights and fighters they will remain hidden. The exception is the Pelta I’m not sure if it’s a medium but in deployment phase it’ll count as a Small. How being hidden works, well it’s simple, instead of putting the ship you have deployed on the table you will put its card face down. To be spotted you have to be within weapons range of a ships guns. So long range firing ships will be a plus here. and if you have something to use as a nebula or space junk that’ll have rules as well. For space junk and or Nebula they completely protect the hidden ships, and in case of a nebula the hidden ship can be shot out from. Line of sight will be required to find them. Now to the rebels last rule, they don’t have to spend all their points on the initial deployment and can transfer remaining points to which ever deployment phase they desire but they have to do it before the game starts and must write which phase it is down. Special rules for the imperial initial deployment besides the Ssd they are only allowed mediums and smalls. Imperials must spend all or lose the points they don’t spend altogether.

At time stamp 17 min crabbok destroys three hammerheads out of his front arc, how does he do that? I thought gunnery teams only lets you make 2 shots from the front.
@CrabbokАй бұрын
Typically destroying 3 is the result of 2 kill shots and a ram. SSD’s used to be able to make 3 shots with gunnery team under 1.0

It's amazing - the mechanics are incredible!
@AllenDanielN5 жыл бұрын
That was my thought a few months ago as well. I brainstormed ways of implementing a 3-dimensional mechanic to this involving servos and mechanical arms while I figured I would give the game a try in its 2 dimensional format. Mainly because I had a love for the theme. I can say now that the game is not perfect but the 2-D mechanics are MORE than enough for everyone I have played with. I honestly have not given the 3-D implementation another thought until you mentioned it just now. I think its still a cool idea, but I now feel that I would have far less fun learning how to play it in the third dimension before I mastered the targeting and navigational tactics in 2-D. Navigating an imperial light cruiser in 3D space? Yikes! Give it a shot sir! The Galactic Empire can use more cowbell!
@needmorecowbell68955 жыл бұрын
@@AllenDanielN Wouldn't the game work better as a sea game where two dimensional map play makes sense?
@brianbeiler16104 жыл бұрын
@@needmorecowbell6895 It might, but by attaching the "Star Wars" name to it, you tap into a HUGE group of potential customers who wouldn't otherwise play a miniatures game based on naval combat.
