Wow Blur played really well in this set.

Man. I love this set. Generally, you never see such drastic turning points in games or sports, but this set changed the dynamic between these two players so much. Prior to this, it was certainly clear that Armada had a mental edge coupled with better gameplans and understanding of the matchups they would play. And during and after, you see that m2k has a strong and (more importantly) repeatable gamplan that he brought to the table. The win also certainly gave him the confidence going foward. I certainly think this set kicked off the best rivalry in melee for the next two years. Pick any set between these two during that time period, and you are likely to get an immensly tense game 5 classic that goes down to the wire. And we have this set to thank for it.

M2K has been doing fairly well. Just not as good as the other top 6. For the longest time he's had a problem against Puff with only one win last year and one win this year. I think it's time to retire Fox and either grind out Marth/Sheik vs Puff.

I think he was crushed after losing to Hbox and really wanted to take the tourney (even though he still could have). Though I think beating him with Marth this time was good because it removed a mind-block from Armada for the next time he uses Marth

noah Twigg I disagree, go watch his set against Hbox, M2K got absolutely destroyed using Fox, Hbox has a *lot* of experience in the Puff/Fox matchup, I honestly think M2K has more of a chance with Sheik/Marth than Fox. Recently, I see M2K failing with Fox way more than actually succeeding.

Commentary suggestion: During game 1 there was way too much talk about the character matchup, I think that kind of analysis needs to happen before the match. Once the match starts, just talk about the game thats happening.

Armada was really way too patient with his turnip pulls this set. It's usually no issue that he will only pull turnips when his opponents are offstage in certain matchups but I feel like with the way m2k was spacing, Armada was failing to pressure Marth on stage, or even offstage. There are many circumstances where m2k is offstage recovering and he very easily side b-s in an intelligent way to avoid the typical two turnip toss armada throws out. Maybe he was scared of side b but, I feel like there were points he could have drop down nair'd and been okay. Definitely an amazing set, though I wish people would stop freaking out when m2k wins things like he isn't good anymore or something. Nobody acts this surprised when PP gets good wins in his current state which is arguably worse than Jason's.

Judging from M2K's popoff, it'd seem extremely challenging to fake this. This was an event where he could focus solely on Melee and attack the "inner demons" he had with more skilled friendly partners and focused matchups.
