"I know I'm human, and if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it; and then it's won."

@@sgtbrown4273 I’ve heard an interesting story. I don’t know if it’s true. If it is, then it’s awesome and hilarious. The story is that there is a tradition at the American Antarctic station of showing John Carpenter’s The Thing right after the last plane has left for the season. If you guys actually do that - you are awesome geeks with a lot of chutzpah. 🤣
@sgtbrown4273 Жыл бұрын
@logandarklighter LOL, yes, they actually do this at pole Station. 😂 your correct. Good to hear from you. I leave the ice in 2 weeks . In McMurdo, we do watch it, but tonight, I'm watching Solo on AFN 😆 hope you have a great night and greetings from the MEC McMurdo Station Antarctica!!!

The fact that you took the amazing leitmotif of that synth (du-dun) from the amazing soundtrack by Morricone of The Thing really show 2 things: 1. Ennio was a true genius, with just 2 notes you instantly are brought back to the movie 2. Your attention to details is amazing, this track (and the others in this series) are top notch works. You nailed it. Damn I love The Thing, one of the rarest example of truly perfect movies.
@kumokumonoso1231 Жыл бұрын
Oh wow, I always was SURE that the soundtrack of The Thing was made by John Carpenter, but no, it is in fact Ennio Morricone!! Mind blown! Thanks for making me learn something new!!
@matusa6714 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's from Morricone but I think they somewhat worked together, indeed the style is truly typical of Carpenter. Anyway, does not really matter who did it, it's a masterpiece and both of them gifted us amazing movie scores; and Carpenter is a visionary.
@kumokumonoso1231 Жыл бұрын
@@matusa6714 I absolutely agree to all of the above. I fell in love with this movie when I saw it first as a teenager back in the 90s on television and it has not lost its grip on me ever since! Not to mention the legendary scores and wide range of other great movies...

The blend of mysterious ambience and retro synthwave pulsations transports listeners to a scene straight out of a sci-fi novel. Mesmerizing, evocative, and brilliantly executed. The Chief Science Officer called out, "Captain! I've found something you might want to see!" The captain hurried over. The Chief Science Officer pointed at something half-buried in the snow. "Fragments of Birg technology, sir." "You're absolutely certain?" the captain asked. The Chief Science Officer nodded. "Tricorder readings confirmed my initial observation." "Not often that the Borg encounter a species and/or technology equal or superior to their own," the captain said. "Any indications of what the other species was?" "Not yet, sir," the Chief Science Officer said. "But if they're more powerful than Species 8472, the Borg Queen's going to have her hands full dealing with them." "That's *her* problem, not ours," the captain said. "We need to contact Starfleet ASAP. Any Borg rebirth in the Beta Quadrant is a threat not only to us humans, but also to any other space-faring race." "Even the Klingons, sir?" the Chief Science Officer asked. The captain nodded. "We might have to send a message to Kronos. They might not take it seriously, though." "Again, as you've already said, their problem, not ours," the Chief Science Officer said. "It might not be safe to take more than a few samples for further study, sir. Nothing complete like a hand and/or arm, for instance." "Keep them in a neutralization field once they're onboard," the captain said. "Yes, sir," the Chief Science Officer said.

Havent seen devastation like this since the war, its a bitterly familiar feeling here. Was this all an elaborate prank sending my team here for recovery? Or did they not know just how bad the crash actually was? Maybe they just value us less than I once thought. The newer members are hard at work with their logs and data bots, being good little worker ants as they collect any information on the crash site. But Erecules hasn't payed much attention to the ground, and I know damn well why. While all the fresh blood can focus on is the crash, us vets can only think about one thing: What caused such a violent aftermath? And is it still a looming threat?
