I was blessed to be invited to an armenian bbq, amazing food! They truly show you how to live life! I stayed the night at my bosses house and ate what they called armenian pizza with lime! Now i cant get over the culture, truly beautiful people who shared their culture with me, its been four years i pray for another 4. Love, family, respect, and prosperity to all armenians!

This vid came up on my feed this morning - brought back allot of good memories. Shish Kabab is all in the preparation. The day before you cook, you cube all the lamb and veggies then marinade it. Dad made a concoction of vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, sugar, cayenne & soy sauce.

There's no point in cranking up the tonir and prepare so much meat (spend so much money) if it's not to be enjoyed with the company of friends :) Otherwise, if it was just about him having a piece of meat, he could throw a piece of steak on a gas grill and call it a meal lol

The way that meat is hung on the skewers is pure genius!

It may be, but I'm sort of old school, and when I was a kid, back home we used all metal skewers (without wooden ends, with the ends of the handles rolled into a ring), and we used to slide the skewers onto a steel bar, then lower them into the pit (tonir). This allowed to cover the top completely and thus allow full convection effect to take place. The air supply/control was done via a diagonally installed tube that exited somewhere next to the tonir, and the opening could be opened or closed depending on the needs. Actually, it's the same concept that he has on the side there, but for some reason his air intake is located way higher, closer to the top than the bottom (hopefully it connects at the bottom), AND his lid is not really a full lid here, which to me is the biggest drawback that makes me hesitant to call this a true tonir :)

Вааах!!! Уж не знаю в какой раз смотрю это видео... !!! И каждый раз, вне зависимости от сытости, хочется взять кусочек мяса в лаваше и съесть! ))) Шамотный кирпич купил. Площадку залил. Буду делать такой же тандыр. Может и без мраморного верха, но размер такой же! Размер стола - определяет гостеприимство хозяина!!! Мира и благополучия над вашим столом!
