Well, we Germans created the Holy (Germanic) Roman Empire. We did sack them various times. The Roman had to build the second largest wall after the Chinese wall to protect themselves from the Germans. What is crazy Google listed a question&answer as this : When did Rome conquer Germany ? Googles answer: 1945. So the only true victory over the German people was in 1945. Only one true defeat in 2000 years (not including the 30 year war) is 1917 & 1945. The Germans ended slavery and bought free the slaves. Later the ones who continued the slave trade conquered America. As soon the German settlers arrived in ca 1680, they instantly fought slavery on a legal level. The first anti slavery petition in America was made by Germans so was one of the first Universal Human Rights declarations. The Ethnic majority in the fight against slavery in the USA was German. At the same time the Germans in Europe have been the strong force in ending slavery. The Germanic Roman empire abolished slavery with its creation. Thats 800 years ago. Anyone thinks World War 1 & 2 is a coincidence ? Look at 2020, it looks like slavery is around the corner again.

@@germaniatv1870 I'm not sure that you studied history at school. But you need to know that the romans weren't like you can see in this season of "barbarians". These episodes made the Roman empire look like an empire who invaded half of the known world at that time only to kill the barbarians people like Germans or gauls, but that's not true. The Roman Empire brought to all their provinces new technology, science, a new way of live, because except for exceptions but the world at that time was in a primitive form of life. Clearly the romans weren't saints, they killed a lot of people, but they did not behave like we have seen in these episodes.

Season 2 Ariminius learn his last lesson Italian word "Vendetta" , Germanicus Comes into Germany like early Verison Of Russians in ww2 , He recovers 2 out the 3 eagles .Wrecks the 5 tribes of Arimnius Alliance ,takes Thusnelda Prisoner along with his son . Nearly Kills Ariminius and his uncle at battle of Idistaviso . Final note after Germans Kill Ariminius ( so much for freedom fighter when he wanted to be king). Flavus( His brother) who fought and remain loyal to Rome becomes Chief of Cherusci . Chariovalda a Batavian chieftain Nearly Killed Ariminus at Idistaviso because it was his son who was suppose to marry thusnelda and he was sole aux. commander with his Batavian Cav. who didn't betray Varus and him and his men was killed by Ariminus at battle of the Teutoburg Forest.

Yes well tell that to everyone else because alot of people belive its real history! Sad i know but who ever wrote the script and the director clearly doesnt understand the Roman Army, Doesnt understand Centurions and the Legion, woman on this show are well over the top, infact they undermine Boudica hersef in many ways because she was publicly Fogged and then humiliated after Her defeat of Wating street.. but the Woman on this show make Boudiica seem like a harmless mouse! The Centurions are utter useless as commanders and the Legions have no real discipline, but these tv shows keep undermining and romanticising things like the vikings who were the most barbaric, brutal peoples. The problem is after the Romans defeated an enemy they went ahead and killed woman and children and everything was a massacre, and it was normal in ancient times, but tv shows will bend the real truth and down pay the Roman Army so as Not to show the real power, mite, efficiency and devastastion of just ONE Roman Cohor's because 90% of countries are of Roman decent, as most Europeans are. And in todays political correction we cant have that behavor can we.... IF the show was anything like historical it could never be a TV show!

It was more complicated that that. Mongols and Attila and other like that were much much worse. Yes romans were ruthless conquerors but they brought civilization with them. They brought peace between tribes, security in cities and on the roads, better roads, plumbs which were crucial in times of plegues, aquaducts, schools, literature, trade... Romans were definitely not the wordt people who tried to conqer the Europe and many people were actually grateful to be part of roman empire. (Generation or two after the conquering of course, no one would be grateful to be part of empire that killed their families) They provided protection againts other nations. Like when Helvetii started to migrate towards gauls who were allied to rome and Caesar stopped them. (It was of course because of his political goals and plans, not because he so much cared about gauls, but it still saved many gallic lifes) So yes they were brutal conquerers but once you were part of the empire it could be really nice. So no, they were not the worst thing that happened to Europe
