@hannibalbarca63083 жыл бұрын
The refs manipulated their entire bodies right into the actual pulling..the rounds that matt lost the refs had him starting more opened up while ermes was starting fully tight/close to body. Not saying it was intentional but basically you could see he was gonna lose based on their relative starting positions before the rounds even started
@debojyotinaskar66593 жыл бұрын
@@hannibalbarca6308 true. And what about that Cupped wrist which Ermes maintained all-through out even before they went into straps except that 3rd round when Matt negated it? Look at the false start attempt from Matt in the round he won, it didnt get called out and it looks like he got a siginificant positional advantage afterwards. Still impressive that he got a pin on ermes, but i dont think a third match would be any different even if matt had more time to train

The huge importance of the setup is the great failure of armwrestling as a sport. It puts off spectators, and kind of deligitimises the competition because it's hard to know if someone wins because they are better from a fair setup, or they were better at getting the unfair setup they wanted. Probably no solution immediately obvious, but it's hard to see armwrestling ever becoming say an olympic sport no matter how popular it gets with the start of so many matches being such a farcical procedure.

Agreed. Matches like these are proof for your statement. This was hard to watch, even for a fan of armwrestling. As long as the athletes can't play 100%fair and can't restrain themselves you'll probably need some kind of machine that fixates the athletes' posture and hand position until the start of a round...

It looks, that Mask almost everytime loses his rising hold in his top-roll hit. And this may be the main gamechanger. @@BBRRUUSS Mask basically said if Ermes gets any cup at all he becomes a freight train but wrist straight he feels much weaker. Basically anyone training for Ermes should train tons of cup (same thing, lack of cupping power let Devon steamroll Todd)

@@nebulouscalamity6338 I watched that livestream on Matt’s channel he did say that. A straight fair wrist Ermes is vulnerable their match was all about positions. Anyway Matt gave credit to Ermes and said the better man won that day and thanks to Ermes it lit a fire in him to train harder and get stronger. Matt plans to continue training and plans to reach 275- 280lbs. He has the frame to do it imo at 6’5. Other than that Matt and Ermes are two great athletes.

@@user-vi9mp1mr3g he has the frame to reach 340lb somewhat comfortably if he takes nutrition seriously and hops on better quality gear
