@shobooknight yeah same. Completed the game on a lightweight build till new game++ including getting all S ranks. While sure heavyweights have access to more hard hitting weapons, positioning and movement is where lightweights shine. All bosses can be beaten with good weapon choice and positing. Especially after the nerf. Pre-nerf i struggled a bit using my laser pistol + stationary drone build against bosses but now sea spider is a joke and harder bosses are manageable for S rank attempts on most builds I tested

When I think of Sekiro I first think of the hard sound of swords clashing and that twang when parrying, god I love that game so much, it’s literally my favorite game ever made. When it comes to AC6, I think of the impact sounds of explosions or shotguns, that slow motion when defeating a AC! I’ve platinumed both game, hell, I’ve platinumed every Fromsoft game, their mechanics are just so satisfying to execute.

You feel every clang in the controller man I swear, Sekiro’s really amazing and incredibly compact making it replayable as hell, I think I managed to squeeze two NG cycles in a single day when I was hunting the 100%. Can’t wait to talk about that game it was quite an experience. Totally agree about Fromsoft games, very few titles have that essence of connecting player to controller like they do. Recently the only game really giving me that sense is Mount and Blade, feels anazing but I play that with M&K, the thundering hooves of your charging cavalry and then lowering your spear and connecting with a body is an insane feeling. Defo recommend, but fair warning it will take some adjusting, especially pre-Bannerlord.

AC6 to me is the balance of heft of AC2/3 and the speed of AC4 presented in a arcadey pick up and play format while still having challenge to make people whine instead of changing a strategy. only downfall I found was not as much parts as the older titles and AC overload is mostly done with shotties, compact shoulder grenade and Anti-Ice worm gun but this is an excellent re-entry for the franchise, already on NG++ and only started this last weekend lol

Considering how well received it was I think a DLC offering story expansion and additional weapons/core parts seems pretty likely, but definitely woulda been cool to see it shipped with more to boot. But, the new patch seems to be an all around buff so at least that opens more options up that won't feel y'know purposefully weaker anymore. Would you consider the old games worth re-visiting? @@Nogu_s Expansions such as those are merited and well worth the cost especially if it's a game you love... but the only example Features sold as DLC I can think of would be the likes of Skyrim's Hearthfire, and Fallout 4's Nuka World and Automaton Workshop, all of which could have been introduced as free mods as a symbol of appreciation, and dedication to fascinate those who may play those games. Fallout 3's Broken Steel not being free is also ridiculous since Bethesda blatantly lied about the endings in that game. But, I always think of DLCs like FO:NV's Lonesome Road (the 3 others are amazing too), Witcher 3's Blood and Wine, Dark Souls 3's Ringed City, Oblivion's Shivering Isles as examples of true DLC.

AC6 gave me a feeling I haven't had since I was 11 years old playing Megaman legends. changing the stats and watching the sliders move feeling how the build changes. The scale brings me back to playing with a trainset as a kid and the first time you see a serious pro hobby layout with multiple trains, animation, mountains, trestles, lights, color sound and everything is accurate it really draws you in and doesn't let go and produces that "one more mission" crack feeling always more detail to discover on each run.

Thanks for this take, a lot of people miss when they talk about Fromsoft games and difficulty, but like you said "Shed your Pride, engage in something new; It's hard but I've never done this before: why would it be easy?" Altho for long time fans of AC games, they have (seen this before), more or less similar gameplay before and it does DEFINITELY (mainly from a knowledge perspective) make it a lot easier. I imagine its a prettty steep learning curve for complete newbies to mech games.

My build after my first play through through to the other two where stun launcher and songbird, and two bazookas or machine guns. I used the terminal armor. So I ran in as close as humanly possible and unloaded making sure every shot hit, and I just keep blasting until my terminal armor bust then I pull back and heal and took care of it from there but with that I was able to beat almost any boss and at worse it usually always took them to there second phase, which is funny cuz it was almost my second phase and it was like very immersive

Its only hard if you want to choose the weapon systems you like to use. If you use the meta weapon systems then its pretty easy. I bought it a few days after release and I haven’t played anything else since. It seems overwhelming but becomes surprisingly intuitive. It has challenging bosses but these are opportunities for growth and for expanding into different play styles. I hope this title continues to grow its fan base and the games continue to come.

I have a piledriver build and it was hard to get it to work because the hit box is wonky and lots of mechs will move out of the way. So you need a good way to set it up. I found the best way is to use the heavier reverse joint (spring chicken) and to jump in the air, use 2 songbirds and the lighter linear rifle to exhaust your opponents energy or stagger them and then assault boost to kick and then if it misses use the assualt armor and then go for the pile driver, repeat. I call it the Horus build. Took me a whole day to work this out but it was worth it.

I think AC6 is for the most part a reasonable level of hard. Some bosses like the third path (true final boss) can take a lot of tries, but it's a game that forces you to learn, and by the time you've cleared all paths you're probably good enough to beat all the previous bosses without much trouble. Consider for example facing Balteus for the first time vs facing upgraded endgame Balteus in NG+ The game's only issues are that some bosses like the sea spider and the cleaner feel very spongey in NG; and the fact that bosses can go out of bounds but you can't, but this kind of unfair advantage is something to be expected from any FromSoft game. (This is my opinion having played 1.0, not sure how the patches have altered the game experience) Sekiro was definitely a much harder game than AC6, demanding perfect guards and imposing a ranging disvantage on the player that you don't have in AC6, where you have enough mobility to define the flow of the battle yourself.

When you load AC6 mechs and bosses in say, Elden Ring, the sizes are all actually proportional. The mecha look like it easily would fit a couple tarnished inside comfortbly to pilot it. The buildings are sized as if the tarnished live in them even though you don't see humans in AC6, the scaling is there. Its actually amazing how big everything is and how great it works deapite being so big. The ice worm for instance, Zullie has a video where she ported the worm into the landa between, and it was so big it could easily be too large to freely roam around like it does in the ice fields and have space.

I dreaded my second playthrough a bit, but I had a fast build I liked (zimm, pulse blade, song birds and 6pack of missiles or a laser dagger depending on mob density, on a reverse joint). Then I had a double stun needle, double zimm on a combat wheelchair for when things got tough. I ended up taking out each boss in one or two attempts. The previously impossible challenges for my.light mech were eviscerated with ease, and I honestly felt like I had grown immensely from my first run. It felt incredible.

You so perfectly captured the gameplay experience man. This is one of the few games.where rhe combat is so fluid i can enter a flow state and just move through enemies, it's amazing, yiu can feel when your build is off or your timings arent quite right, re-adjust go back in and feel the flow change. Seriously this is one of the most amazing gameplay experiences ive had, right up there with Hades. And it comes wrapped in incredible visuals with sound design that makes the flow so visceral!!! And the STORY!!! Gah it's so good, the fact the story and missions change as you go through NG+ and NG++ is so amazing. Im now working to S-rank every mission and ive never done anything like that in a game before, im not a completionist by any means nut im going to 100% this one. Hands down it's my GOTY which is kinda shocking, even though i played AC3 back in the PS2 days I'm traditionally more of an RTS and CRPG guy.
@iamiceTV

CRPG guy but your vote isn't for Baldur's Gate 3? I haven't played that one personally, but man I haven't seen a single complaint other than the final act is kinda iffy. Though I do agree, AC6 is my GOTY but I've only touched this and Starfield. Also totally agree, funny enough I made a video on Hades a while back, but at that point my writing style was a bit rawer and I was still trying to resolve what I wanted my videos to convey. I think the big take-away from games like this, is no matter where you are, once you've figured it out you can be deadly with the starting kit. Likewise, if I start a new Hades save I could probably tear through Stage 1-3 bare ass with just the spear, because I know what I'm doing, y'know? Once I've got it in me to do the formal Why you SHOULD Play format for AC6, you'd best believe those things are getting mentions. I saw some folks say the story didn't matter and was utterly confused, even just through chapter 2 you should see the pieces falling into place.

@@iamiceTV I may have to stop calling myself that. It seems like the older I get the less of a CRPG guy I become. I think my day job is a big factor, I'm an aerospace engineer which is a very cerebral position, and after a day of work I feel like my brain can't handle digging into a CRPG. Not that AC6 doesn't require a lot of brain power but it feels like it demands a very different kind of mental energy than BG3 and my job lol. So at this current point in my life I'm finding far more enjoyment getting into that flow state in AC. Oh man, I have never been more frustrated than watching someone live streaming or doing a let's play of AC6 and skipping over all the dialogue and then later them making comments that the story is non existent or overly confusing or didn't do enough to draw them in and care about any of the characters. It's like my guy, you literally skipped all of it, you expect to be able to understand it when you're skipping it????

@@iamiceTVoh also highly recommend giving Subnautica a shot. I hope you've managed to avoid spoilers for what happens in that game as it's one of those games where knowing what's coming really cheapens and takes away from that first playthrough experience. @iamiceTV

@@Ender240sxS13 Can understand that, CRPGs do have a lot more interfaces to mess with whereas the brainpower behind AC6 is almost all tied to action. Also, picking the right dialogue option in a CRPG can be nerve-wracking hahah But yeah definitely floors me, especially because the dialogue takes all of 90 seconds at most? Also I don't know much about Subnautica other than there are big scary fish monsters at some point. Otherwise the game's largely foreign to me outside of seafaring survival. Absolutely plan to try it.

Older AC games were harder in a longer-term sense (a few bad missions really made you struggle later on), while AC6 is harder moment-to-moment. I've noticed this as a trend for the last couple decades, since it's easier to ensure the player is always engaged with the game if the moment-to-moment experience is top notch, even if that means that there is less of a need to think long-term.

I love how ACs if they really did exist, could easily be weapons so beyond insane that one or two alone could turn the tide of an entire war. The pressence of just a few ACs would invalidate the pressence of ground troops almost emtirely. Its amazing how powerful they would really be and how quick they would devestate our military. I would even bet that ACs could make Metal Gears look like childs play.
@iamiceTV

This comment's the exact energy of Whimsy. AC's are definitely insane lmao, when you consider their scale the caliber of shells their guns shoot are probably proportionate to Atom Bombs. I'd bet they could devastate countries, not just a military. I truly wonder how the AC universe works, if corporations hold clusters of planets for their HQ and enterprises. As well, the scale of mobile fleets of space-faring civilians/colonies?? It's such a farcical setting but such a neat idea, I hope they expand on it in the future. Maybe even ulterior media like books/a show... might clash too much with Gundam though.

Beating Balteus for the first time took a lot of effort for me, it was not easy... but I could almost literally taste the flavor of VICTORY when I finally beat him. Not even Elden Ring had managed to give that feeling of desperately achieved victory I obtained by beating him for the first time. I really missed it. It was even sweeter knowing I didn't cheese the fight and just went with what worked for me at that time, which included the Pulse Blade as my primary source of both damage and tearing his pulse shield away each time. I did use the pulse gun as well, but swapping between that one and the melee on my shoulder required a decent amount of timing and skill that I don't think it was cheesy at all to use the "intended method to beat him" since it was still a slog and was still insanely challenging to do regardless. I'm loving this game, I'm using the Pulse Blade religiously now for my first playthrough's build up until I get the Moonlight melee weapon, and I can't wait to work towards all the Coral weapons afterwards. I've been saving my AC builds as I progress through the game to have a record of how my Starting AC developed over time, and It's exciting for me to go from Crater-00, to New Moon-01, all the way to my two Chapter 3 builds of Waning Moon-04a & Waning Moon-04b for my melee and ranged builds until I get new gear to play around with from beating another chapter.

It didn't feel the same, and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, but there's also the satisfaction that it still exists and people are discovering and potentially engaging with what stuck out to me, and I love seeing the occasional KH2 nod here and there. So if it's any solace, I do plan to check out AC2 and AC3, another twinkling diamond like AC6 can always pull the eye to find a couple others surrounding it. Also who knows, maybe they'll do remasters following this one's success?

It's maddening that many people talk lots of garbage without having in mind something so crucial, so congratulations in that regard. The pursuit of covinience and standardization have been a big detriment to novelty and originality in the last three generations. Nowadays, it's increasingly rare to see big studios exploring new ideas, at least not as frequently as it was in the PS2 era.

PS2 has such a wide array of games offered it was incredibly weird, but weird doesn't mean bad. It's what made it so charming, having played GOW 2018 and only watched gameplay of the original GOW, it was much more thrilling watching the puzzle-solving, the set-pieces, and even the almost choreographed boss fights as it just seemed so focused on being a game, y'know? 2018 was fine, a good, sometimes great game but I can really only recollect like 5 or 6 moments only a month later.
