The irony of this build is that in the 5th and 6th gen AC games, this build is decent since the additional weight freed from not using back weapons increase movement speed. Older games fixed movement on legs/thrusters so the incentive was to pack as much as the legs can carry without going overweight. Cheers, I missed out on playing the psx armored cores, they look interesting!
@felipeguedescampos8519 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say it's good on 6th gen, because most of the time, it's better to have 4 weapons, and you can even use weight control if one of the weapons becomes useless. Also using only one weapon to deal with enemies at a distance would drain its ammo very fast Edit: the only situations I can think where it's good to use only 2 weapons is 2 LRBs or 2 KSRV with 20b generator
@ktvx.949 ай бұрын
While it's true that you can fire all 4 weapons at once unlike in previous gens, there's some nuance to it that doesn't always make it the best choice. Even then you have the punch so you _can_ make niche builds that don't use all weapons and you would get a benefit from it.
@Toshinben9 ай бұрын
PSX AC games were good. Each gen has its own flavor. I've played all besides 6 and Formula Front, and Project Phantasma, and the only genuinely bad ones were 9 Breaker (repetitive, boring tasks), and 5 (movement that was impractically clunky even by AC standards). Worth watching a playthrough of the AC1 generation. Playing might be frustrating. Mobility was very clunky with the engine; there was no boost-hopping. Parts were so unbalanced that many were absolutely useless (chaff launchers, most non-missile back weapons). There was a lot of save scumming - the KARASAW (Karasawa, but there weren't enough characters for the whole name) is the only weapon pickup in the entire series I know of that you could accidentally blow up. Oh, and touching your feet in deep water in gen 1 and 2 - without hover legs - was enough to instantly fail a mission - you couldn't boost out of the water like in gen 3 and beyond.

@@Toshinben Thanks, I didn't know that gen 1 and 2 had waterfall traps

seeing those parts together is just painful, all heavy EN draining parts with a bad generator, then energy weapons. This guy was set up for failure.

I really appreciate the weird old design philosophy that fromsoft used to design their old npc ACs. There was a certain balance they had designing ACs that fit a niche for either firepower or style. Taking only a laser rifle and laser blade was certainly something I would have thought was a good idea as a kid because it looked cool. Throwing practicality out the window in favor of the rule of cool felt pretty doable in this game for a large portion of the game.

The head, legs and arms of White Queen's AC are available in the PSP games as legacy parts if you ever wanted to make a third-gen version of Checkmate II. In any event, I always figured this Raven was the type to favor Arena fights over standard mercenary work. His character art strikes me as a flashy guy.
@DeathMetalThrasher9 ай бұрын
I wonder if you can beat last Raven as Checkmate II 🤔

So I don't know if you know this or if anyones told you, but in Worker Bot Removal, you don't want to shoot the Worker Bots with any ranged weapons. You're not hitting the generator with your shots or splash damage, ranged attacks cause the bots to explode. You're supposed to carefully maneuver yourself so you can hit them with your sword without slashing a generator.

I have had been told quite a few tactics, not that I mind hearing more as I started my ac journey with ac2. So I am still getting to grips with the ps1 game and how the work. I appreciate this advice and will try it on my next run.

@Toshinben9 ай бұрын
To be fair, I think most builds can't beat AC1. The final mission has so much firepower coming at you, so many GP-ACs (general purpose Armored Cores) and high end MTs, and requires so much boosting I think most builds will inherently fail at dealing with one of those 3 challenges. Come to think of it, I don't know if ANY of the ranked ACs could beat the game. Most have very little ammo, and many of them rely on H-Plus to be usable: Valkyrie, Boss Savage, Dynamitable, 9-Ball. Don't you have to destroy the floating mines in the first part of the mission in order for the way forward to unlock? RIP blade builds.
@DeathMetalThrasher9 ай бұрын
Eh, I've beaten that mission with varied builds. However, most of the time I ignore the 2 nine ball acs

There really is so much being thrown at the player and well to be honest i only managed to get through the first door by killing all the foes, Granted it has been quite a while since i last play the og armoured core, but i will keep playing with the build in my free time to see.

The cool thing about AC1 is that failure actually helps you. The more Human Plus augments you get (every time you go 50k credits in debt, you get one), the more bonuses you get, i.e free radar, better EN efficiency, etc.

>Can't beat Destroy Floating Mines I couldn't beat it without save scumming through the platforming section, so I can't even blame the build

All done some saving scumming on that bit. Especially in a tank build.

The lockbox was painful to look at, and its energy problems didn't help anything either..... 0:24 Am I the only one who thinks the supposed pilot of this AC looks like Sanji from One Piece!? There's a Raven named "Masquerade" in Master of Arena's second disc who pilots an AC very similar to White Queen's... (The only difference is the leg parts he uses, alongside possessing Human+ abilities)
