Interestingly, the "information" feature in last raven never mentions the Raven's Ark executives. They just make it seem like Jack-O has always been the leader of the ark
@armoredcorelore Жыл бұрын
True as it does say the leader of ravens Ark Jack-o disappeared around this time and most presumed he died in the attack. And in nexus we don't hear about Jack-o until he forcible takes over the Ark by force, so its possible he was the leader who used forced to change the ark or that he took over from of the old leader/leaders and forced the changes. Again the joys of AC history as from one view he was always the leader and from another he was a raven who took the ark over by force.

The whole thing about the Ark honestly fascinate me. Radical Neutrality and Independence at all cost. Basicly Swiss but for what is basically Hitmans In Mechs. Its also quite interesting how Nihilistically Grim the Ark Profesional Competitiveness is shown, a dog eat dog world in the most literal sense by dogfighting each other to the death in missions, the whole thing just felt very warrior culture oriented just like mandalorians for lack of better analogy. In context of Nexus, its bombastic music and entry presentation, and how each raven is so prideful how they always give smack talk like WWE Wrestlers complete with colourful mech as their show costume which even carried to Last Raven, its not hard to see why since every job might be their last against other raven in their nihilistic rat race for top rank. Tbh while it is intriguing to see ravens and their culture at the end I almost feel sad for them honestly, even the ending of nexus and to extent for everyone involved in the 24hr war of last raven shows if you live by the AC you die by the AC in the most literall way possible. Imo its an effective way by fromsoft writing if its meant to be anti war or anti glorifying mercenaries by showing the grim side of the job
@armoredcorelore Жыл бұрын
This I like. Its true for all the show we see the fact is most ravens will die in a job, not many get to see old age and in such a world where freedom is quite restricted. Being a raven is that freedom people seek if they can, but the price in return is a life of fighting and endless killing. Not so glorious being a mercenary when one takes a look into the reality of the job.
@Errorcutive Жыл бұрын
@@armoredcorelore Its quite a deep, grim and somewhat nihilistic narrative honestly in Gen 3 world as you can only choose to be a corporate slave or become an independent free man at all cost including bleeding your hand against others in a nihilistic climb to the over glorified top rank. Very Cyberpunk like, no happy ending either way. But i guess thats the life of a Raven the spirit of ruthlessly become the best and completing the mission at all cost, which is a stark contrast to Lynxes who chose their battle very philosophically. Ravens just fly where theres the smell of death to peck on. Also the ark has my respect, they at least have principle and at least ensuring their member independence despite all the grim things they face daily. Character like Jack-O that stood firm in face of corporate pressure and assasination attempt has my full respect as an employee.

I have to admit, Ravens Ark was probably the best employer of all the merc organizations. Compared to Collared that'll send you on suicide missions and make secret agreements with Orca, or Nerves Concord that'll set up missions to ambush and kill other members of the SAME ORGANIZATION (what was the total, 3? The dude looking for arena sponsorship you kill in the furnace area, Deerhunt and the other dude that betray you in the open area, and the one dude where you attack him in the arena during practice are the ones I remember), Ravens Ark is a pretty good place to work! I think they're the only organization in all of AC that wouldn't take anything from the corps lying down. One thing missing: we never got to really see what Ravens Ark could do. This includes previous and subsequent counterparts. I think the closest we get in any game is the Union attack on the Crest research area in AC3, where we have a large coordinated assault on a facility where victory is a foregone conclusion, the only question is who's going to get there first? Imagine some mission with 10 ACs all going ham on some military base, criminal hideout, or maybe airport, as a response to some aggression. You don't even need to do anything to win the mission. The point would be to show 'We don't have the money to fund a sustained war, but we DO have the money for this!' Also, how big is the Ark? How much of their assets are owned, and how many are rented? To transport pilots work for the Ark, or some other organization? We know they made money off of the arena, which they built in conjunction with someone else (can't remember who at the moment). Was their policy BYOAC, or did they provide basic ACs to anyone who could pass the entrance exam? How did they get access to all the parts that they sold - did they have their own stock, or were they just brokers between pilots and manufacturers? Did they have any dedicated facilities? I could probably go on for quite a while with unanswered questions about the Ark.
@armoredcorelore Жыл бұрын
These are all good questions and sadly in all the books i own on ac i could not find this sort of information and that's sometimes the issue. The scale of some of the organisations is never made clear and i do like the whole march of the acs into a base to show power, but i think the ark knew if they sent in more the one ac into the mirage base then the big blue would put it together. After all crest was having money problems and Navis was on its knees.
