These dudes are going to be super critical when we find ourselves in the next conventional war. It’s a bad day to be an infantryman under contested airspace.

In the Marines, those holding this MOS (7212) Low Altitude Air Defense, are known as LAAD Gunners, Redeye Gunners or simply just Gunners.

This mos used to be 10 weeks long which had taught the lpws and with ait being 7 weeks long you 99% wont learn anything about the lpws until you get to a duty station that has one.

I don’t know about the Army, but as far as the Marine Corps is concerned, a student has to be able to identify and name 200 aircraft as one of the requirements to become a Low Altitude Air Defense Gunner, which is the same MOS just a different name.

it's similar in the army we use weft to identify & the hotlist is 50 that rotates for a total of about 200

@@freelancer391 You can go to any post that has an AAA unit. Mech i.d, and light i.d units need air defense. EVERYBODY needs air defense... I was stationed at Ft Stewart as a stinger MANPAD 16s. We were getting cross trained to 14s (Avenger) when I outprocessed. looks like they roll all three together now. Nice consolidation. We didn't have c-ram back in the 90's but we had the Vulcan which was used for the same purpose.

@@bobkoln163 back when 14p first came out it was supposed to be an additional training to 14g, mainly the CRAM component. It’s funny how much they kept adding to it to just end up doing the 14s MOS all over again. I bet a bunch of desk jockeys got ARCOMs just to reinvent the 14s MOS
