Army chief: Iran's missile attack on Israel's territory "will be met with a response" | DW News

Israel's army chief Herzi Halevi has pledged Israel will respond after Iran launched an attack against Israel at the weekend. The government's war cabinet met again Monday to weigh its response. There has been no announcement of any definite action. But Herzi Halevi said Iran will face consequences.

If you are on the left or far left then any attempt of a nuanced and balanced conversation on the topic of Israel and its right to exist as a state and sovereign country in the region is futile. Most western media is ideologically captured and biased and outright hostile to the state of Israel. Israel had not even mounted a response to the attack and atrocities by the Hamas terrorists (militants for most of the western media) on October 8, 2023 but most western news outlets were already "sharpening their knives" and denouncing Israel. "They had it coming" right? The rot in the West goes deep, from Harvard (and most of our educational institutions) to the media and so called liberal elites in the West which benefit from democratic and liberal rule but denies Israel to defend itself in the face of totalitarian, hostile and literally genocidal countries and entities like Hamas and Hezbollah and yes the fundamentalist and theocratic Republic of Iran which seeks the eradication of the state of Israel and its inhabitants. (and so does Hamas and Hezbollah the proxies of Iran). They are attacking Israel with rockets for decades now and are heavily armed and supported by the terrorism exporting regime in Iran. I think Iran had the right to retaliate,but I think they also knew that most of their drones and missiles would be shot down by the Iron Dome in Israel,and by its' allies. So whilst seeming to be a major attack,in order to show the world that Iran is not to be messed with,they knew the damage to civilians would be minimal. I agree with you completely. What Israel did by bombing the Iranian embassy in Damascus was a war crime under the Vienna Convention. It killed 16 people, a number of high ranking Iranian military officials. Iran's esponse was legitimate under international law, Israel, the US and UK vetoed Iran's request to have the matter dealt with in the Security Council. They HAD to respond to this provocation and they did so in a measured way.
