Passed my selection a few weeks ago, its actually pretty easy just know you chosen job roles, where you're going, how long for and what you will be doing... And make sure to be confident on the team tasks id say they are the most underestimated thing, people got deffered for not showing enough enthusiasm or any communication skills

Doesn't hurt to do some research on them but if im honest they didn't really seem to interested and all felt a bit rushed. Just go on what I said above and you should be sweet.

callum ellerington assuming you’ve passed or failed or don’t give a shot about joining now, but, it’s a piss test, sight test, hearing test, checking heart and lung capacity and a thorough examination by doctor which includes all sorts of stretches to test every major joint/muscle/bone. This is the stage that you should worry about the most.
@BigShaun
@BigShaun 5 жыл бұрын
Mike P it’s not really an interview, it’s more of a discussion, just remember to stick in at the physical bits before hand, listen to the staff AT ALL TIMES, they will tell your interviewer what they’ve learned about you and that can be crucial towards passing. I wanted to join RA as a gunner but as I had signals as a 3rd choice, had to do technical selection test and done well enough to join REME as a mechanic.

love this, when i joine in 1988 we went to birmingham for our selection. I ended up here as a Guardsman when Pirbright was the guards depot. lovely memories. Checking in to see how its changed as my son is looking to join up soon. so many changes but it boils down to how much you want it :) go for it.

I just got back from selection. It was a fantastic. I really enjoyed it. It's not as laid-back as this video so be prepared for that. Do NOT talk down to NCOS or the Officers. Do NOT put your hands in your pockets or slouch. Always maintain eye-contact and be confident (but not cocky). Make sure your revise as much as you can about your first chosen job role. Where Phase 1 & 2 training is, how long for, what will you be doing, why you want to do this, the values and standards ect. Also, the tests. If you have c grades or level 2s/3s, you wont have to do the maths and english tests. I also had military tests about the SA80 and the L115A3 rifle which was not that difficult. The strength tests are also not that difficult. Just work on upper body strength before you go. And the run, the hardest part. Do NOT stop or walk. Just keep going and you'll fine. As long as they see you put in 100% effort, you're golden. Also, remember to shake the NCO and Officers hands at the end before you leave. I was the only lad I can remember that did, and it shows respect.

I've just passed my 2 day assessment, and and now waiting for my intake day, as long as you put in 100% in, be enthusiastic, and speak up, make yourself noticed. keep your fitness up, research your preferred role. but most of all relax, I had so many people in my 2 day assessment that kept getting worked up and that cost them a pass.

British Army is not worth doing. Pensions cut by massive amounts, poor prospects, promotion holding, cuts cuts cuts. Ruined career. Under manned over worked, under appreciated. Stupidly high stress levels these days. Discussing work life balance. Not conducive to family life as it once was. Marriage breakdowns all over the place. Pay restraint year after year. More pay in John Lewis selling hair straighteners. My life my, my, marriage, my Career WIPED OUT and with disgustingly devastating pension forecast life is simply not worth it now. RLC is a core Regiment, therefore your run time has to be below either 13 - 14 minutes, ideally you want to be below 12 minutes 30 seconds (Infantry selection pass time) that'll secure you a solid run time. Don't bank on your age bieng a leniency factor, they expect the same standards from everyone, particularly now with the changes to the Army and the increased Operational responsibilies of the Reserves to provide more man power. Hope that helps, and good luck!

@LiquidReason I managed 16 heaves. Most people did between 8 and 10. The 40kg max lift was from the floor to shoulder height placing it on a ledge. I dont know how many jobs are left in the RA i know theres not many spaces left and we are in phase one already. Hope you have a good experience mate.

@Zac LuvaChic from what i saw females only really find the strength tests (jerry can carry and chin ups) and the 1.5 mile run harder but like everythin good preperation is important. i would advise buying a chin up bar from argos its not that much and maybe doing sum upperbody weight training aswell as some circuit training and dont forget your running.
@MrGarrett1911
@MrGarrett1911 12 жыл бұрын
. They dont do these physical tests anymore, usually its the jerry can run 5x20 meters, heaves/pull ups, and lifting up to 40kg onto a box at around five feet. Then the 1.5 mile run

If anyone's reading this, maybe worrying about what's going to happen at ADSC, which is normal, because I was too, you'll realize after, that you worried for nothing. It's an amazing few days, that I'll never forget. Met some great people, traveled to a different country. The medical is the only thing you should worry about as it's beyond your control. If you have any questions, go on Facebook and search 'Army Jobs'. They reply and answer all questions you have. It really helped me :)

@firefighter345 naa m8 if ur goin for paras u stay for the same time, aslong as u get 9:18 - 9:40 in the 1.5 mile run ul pass for the paras, the selection procedure is the same as every other job, after completing selection ul go to ITC catteric to start your 28 week basic training, in that time you will go to a R.A.F base to do your parachuting :)

Depends what your going into mate. i did 15 heaves (pull-ups) which was the 3rd best out of about 20 guys and im going into the infantry. but on guy did 2 heaves and he got into the infantry aswel. the icebreaker isnt anything to worry about just read the board and act confident and RESEARCH YOUR CHOOSEN REGIMENT! so many guys didnt and just fucked up. Its not a proper interview... you just sit down with and officer, he asks bout your regiment and then he says if u passed or failed. good luck

Hiya mate, I'm just about to go through selection so I am only a bit ahead of you. I was opposite to you because I am big and rubbish at running but I trained for 6 months and got my time down to 10 minutes. The only advice that I could give you is to carry on running as usual but start doing weights, press ups, pull ups (upper body exercises) and also eat plenty of protein and increase the carbohydrate in your diet. You want to gain a bit of weight and muscle but keep your cardio up! :)

Joined a signal squadron a couple of weeks back (TA). From what I've been told tours of duty vary depending on what you join. And yeah, I reckon you can get away with boasting ;p

I think it is 150m and you can not drop them or put them down for a bit and pick them back up you must keep in line with the corporal doing the exercise too. The PT is a bit intense but try your hardest no matter how fucked you are, on the run you will do your best time for sure i beat my best time there by 30sec just keep chasing down the man in front of you and speak plenty in the team tasks you will win/lose big points there. @fecto3210 you choose them self when you go to your army careers center they will ask you what your 3 chosen choices are after you will do a BARB test to see what score you get and this will be for your 1st choice so for example if your going RLC you need a score of 44 or if its infantry you need to get above 28 because they grade you on it aswell so if you scrape through the next thing you need to be good at for whatever job it is, is your fitness has to be booming run circles around everyone

if I passed selection I wouldn't mind if had to wait a year, because in that year you could do so much fitness and be ready and well prepped.

This was uploaded in 2008, since the defence cuts the Army can choose who it wants now and have changed the recruiting process slightly they can afford to be picky. not al selection intakes will be able to have recruits talk to them as they are away on drill training, excercise ect. i did my selection in 2005 and this is pretty close.

Just passed at Glencorse in Edinburgh, stick in whoever is going. It really isn't worth waiting months to get back if you fail.

They are all in big demand well 2 and 3 are anyways. I went for CMT but its a very poplar choice even with a B+ I was 35th on the waiting list so went with the Guards instead give a shout on how you got on.

Aim for 44 press ups in 2 mins and 50 sit ups in 2 mins,some say these won't be tested at selection,but you will be tested in first week along with other tests when you start basic,if u fail tests at basic you can't begin training till u pass them. Trust me I used to be in infantry. All the best
