Shinee is an amazing group. They debuted at the age of 14 to 18 years old. My bias is Onew pronounced O-New. He has the most amazing voice & smile. H was in a show called Sea of Hope, check it out. I would recommend watching next Atlantis which is also a new song. Then work your way back. What’s great about Shinee is they sing different types of genres so you are never bored of the same thing & all of them are great vocalists & none of them sound the same but when they harmonize they sound amazing. With "Don't Call Me," SHINee (pronounced Shiny -- as in shiny diamonds or shiny stars -- their name has a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine) are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. You just discovered why SHINee still hold one of the top spots after almost 14 years in the industry. If you are impressed now, just wait until you go through their entire discography of songs and MVs. So far, they have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 13+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. However, if you want to see where SHINee truly shines, you have to see their live performances. SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and, yet, they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than many members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew turned 32 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one with the hoodie -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc. Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment, so Key is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Minho -- the one with the red hair -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. He is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. Taemin -- the one with the blond highlights -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry (one of the top 2 best dancers of all dancers in Kpop), and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed away 4 years ago -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. He was one of the very first Idols to be known for this songwriting and composing skills. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans (SHINee World or Shawol for short) will tell you we know who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed, with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop". SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. So unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography for more than 3 hours straight in concert. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach. Shinee is such a unique group. I'm stan of Monsta X myself but there is special place in my heart for Shinee' music. They are idols among idols.I mean, leader of my favs is a total fanboy of Taemin, because he is THE DANCER. There is no other similar performer in industry. Glad you discovers them, i believe you'll find a lot of songs for add to playlist. Mine all time favorite is "Tell me what to do". That song was like a punch in a face for me, extremely relatable with beautiful melody and stunning vocals.

Welcome to SHINee World! If you continue this journey, you are in for an AMAZING ride. SHINee are legends. At this point in their career, there are no designated roles. They are all vocalists, rappers, dancers, and soloists. Although Taemin is the youngest, he has the most prolific solo career (since 2014). This, and the fact that he is the dance king of Kpop, is the reason why so many people usually recognize him the most. However, the other members are also very well-known in their own right. Minho, as a very prolific actor. You probably recognize him from "Hwarang", which also included V of BTS. Key is a regular on "Amazing Saturdays", as well as "I Live Alone", and Onew (pronounced either "O-New" or "On-You") is considered as one of the best vocalists in Kpop (the other best is Jonghyun). He participated in "Sea of Hope" this year. Onew is much more low profile than the other members. These guys are EXTREMELY close. In fact, they are known throughout Kpop as having the closest brotherhood than any other group to the point that they were introduced on "Weekly Idol" as the group that regularly and openly shows skinship the most amongst each other. They are always very comfortably candid about their relationships which is hilarious in itself because they jokingly reveal both the good and the bad. Key and Minho are bickering brothers who actually seem more like an old married couple; Key and Taemin are more like mother and son, as Key took over taking care of Taemin. Key also, ironically takes care of our dear leader, Onew, who can be very shy at times, especially when he first got out of the military. Minho is the gentle, affectionate older brother to Taemin and would give Taemin the world if he could. Minho and Onew lived together at the dorm for YEARS and are extremely close. In fact, Minho just recently moved out of the dorm into his own place last year, but he goes back every once in a while because he misses Onew. Taemin and Onew are just too cute together. While Onew is sometimes a gentle father-figure to Taemin, providing quiet and gentle support when young Taemin needed reassurance, Taemin is also now more of a support to a more quiet Onew since leaving the military. Thankfully, Onew seems to have opened up more the last few months and is returning to his more comedic, goofy self. This is reassuring to us fans because Onew has been the steadfast glue of the group through his gentle, democratic leadership style. Jonghyun was loved by all, but like the others also shared a unique relationship with each member. Although he called himself Taemin's 2nd mom, to me he seemed like a the ultimate uncle or dad-figure. He and Taemin were trainees together prior to being assigned to SHINee. Jonghyun immediately took the young 11/12 YO (intl. age) Taemin under his wing, protecting and guiding him. They roomed together when assigned to SHINee, and Jonghyun became Taemin's vocal coach (along with Onew), as well as the self-appointed president of Taemin's fan club. He even delayed his own solo concert by 2 days in order to attend Taemin's very first solo concert in Japan. Key and Jonghyun were best buds. When those two got together, insanity reigned supreme and comedy overflowed. Key now talks openly about how much he misses his friend and hated that people acted like it was taboo for people to talk and reminisce about Jonghyun, especially since the members wanted so much to keep Jonghyun alive in their and their fans hearts. Minho (AKA "Flaming Charisma") and Jonghyun (AKA "Bling, Bling") were called the "Tom and Jerry" couple due to their strong personalities and competitiveness with each other. The funny thing is that Jonghyun always lost to Minho (because Minho is a sports/fitness freak....lol. He always dominates in sports across the Kpop industry.) They teased each other mercilessly. Onew and Jonghyun had a musical relationship. They wrote and composed songs together. As Onew has always been the kind, quiet, soft one of group (hence his name = "Tofu"), he was also a gentle support to Jonghyun who also felt and thought very deeply about EVERYTHING and everyone. Jonghyun had a very kind, sincere heart just like Onew. While all the members shared their grief and felt Jonghyun's loss deeply, I think it has had an even more lingering effect on Taemin. He was the closest to Jonghyun. Although Taemin rarely talks about this loss, you can see it reflected through the lyrics of his song, "Identity" and the fact that he couldn't sing the song Jonghyun gifted him with, "Already", live for a couple years after his passing. In addition, Taemin gets separation anxiety when he can't be with his members on a regular basis. We SHAWOLs could see this while his members were in the military and he was left on his own for two years. Although Taemin continued working as a soloist and held concerts, EVERY interview he had he would stress how very much he missed his hyungs and how hard it was to be on his own. In 2020 during a VLIVE in his car, he became so animated and happy, telling us the news that his hyungs would start returning very soon, beginning with Onew and how he couldn't wait. He kept saying, "hurry, hurry, hurry". It's almost as if he's afraid something will happen to them when they are apart. Can you blame him? After the last member returned, Minho in November, Taemin transformed into this exceedingly happy, euphoric kid who couldn't contain his joy and mischievousness. It was a shock and delight for SHAWOLs to see. Alas, it wasn't to last. Just seven months later, May 2021, Taemin had to enlist and begin another separation of 18 months. Now we are all waiting for his return and to see them all together again.

SHINee, The Kings of the industry in my opinion. They debuted when they were just babies, and even though they have already been in the industry for 13 years, they are contemporary in age to other idols with less artistic experience. TAEMIN as a soloist is the top in kpop even many people compare him to MJ. He is called The "king of kpop" and is probably the biggest "Idol's Idol" there, please react to him. ADVICE.

SHINee are the vocal and performance kings, Minho is recognized for being a great actor, Key is a vaiety show king and he is a soloist too. Onew is a solo artist who has participated in several variety shows in the past year and Taemin is the king of kpop. He is the most impactful soloist in music and Jonghyun is a real vocal king and very passionate about it and the writing, the poems, the composition. That's SHINee KINGS. Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM's storyline. As with everything that SM does, it's been designed to all connect. All of SM's groups' concepts and MV storylines connect together and it's all part of one giant Universe and story that started in 2012 with EXO's debut. To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to be aware that it all began with EXO's origin story. EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. And SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force. So, because of this, all of SM's groups have storylines that connect. I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." We also see Key from SHINee in a subway train in his solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV in 2018. And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway. The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." (And now that Key has released his solo "Hate That ... " MV, I think that scene with Taeyeon from Girls' Generation, standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean in "Hate That ..." is connected to that scene in "Don't Call Me" as well.) Then it looks as though the SHINee members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping." The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers," SuperM is taking members from each of SM's groups and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen. groups with the introduction of aespa in 2020 -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept from 2020 could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MV from 2012, as well as the butterfly in NCT-127's recent "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, and some have made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in their "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV from 2016 may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s "When We Were Us" MV from 2020 in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists.

Been stanning SHINee since 2009 and until now I don't have a bias (once you get to watch them on and offstage, it's really gonna be difficult to choose a bias) though Jonghyun is the one that I got interested in initially due to his voice and unique looks in their older video Ring Ding Dong. Yes Minho is an actor, he is in dramas like Hwarang and To The Beautiful You. Onew is pronounced like On-yu and also appeared in the drama Descendants of the Sun. Key is multitalented being a rapper, vocalist, dancer and is also SM's fashion designer, he is highly involved in designing clothes for SHINee's concerts and performances. Taemin is called idol of idols; when he debuted at 14 his voice was so unstable that some even said he was tone deaf and thru hardwork became one of the best artists today and has tons of solo work. Jonghyun is considered one of the best vocalists ever and wrote songs for SHINee and other artists like Exo, IU and Lee Hi. SHINee is known for their live vocals, singing live since debut. It's okay to talk about Jonghyun. We love to celebrate his life & artistry. He is Shawol's pride and joy. He is still the best vocalist from the first time I found Kpop in 2009 (not even a Shawol back then) till now. The songs he composed for his solo and for SHINee are all chef's kiss. The exciting thing about SHINee is every member has very different genre for their solo, so each has their own rabbit hole. Take your time and enjoy the journey

SHINee es simplemente maravilloso, me pregunto como es posible q en un solo grupo hayan reunido a 5 jóvenes tan talentosos, es algo que no ves tan seguido en los grupos de k-pop en la actualidad, donde el número de integrantes y roles son muy marcados y a veces no todos brillan igual. Sin embargo, estos cinco chicos tienen personalidades muy diferentes y talentos tan equilibrados y únicos (sus voces tienen un color que no son comunes en otras bandas, así que inmediatamente sabes q sin ellos) que hacen q sean fuertes solistas y una maravilla cuando están juntos, sus voces se complementan tan bien. Otra cosa es que desde su debut tienen una calidad vocal y de interpretación en vivo, que les ha permitido ser el grupo experimental de la SM, cada comeback han tenido tanto visuales como géneros musicales q han hecho propios y marcado tendencia para el resto de los grupos de kpop, de ahí que sean llamados idol de Idols. Su talento les ha permitido tener una discografía muy buena, albums con no solo un main track bueno sino con excelentes b-sides, x lo que desde su debut han estado en los primeros lugares (primer grupo en hacer grand slam) y 14 años después siguen siendo exitosos, respetados y muy queridos, de ahí el terrible impacto y atención masiva q tuvo la pérdida de Jonghyun. En fin, podemos seguir alabando a SHINee pero espero disfrutes tu viaje de exploración a través de su música, pero sobretodo te recomiendo que intercales los MV con presentaciones en vivo de sus conciertos, ya q es de los pocos grupos que las presentaciones en vivo superan las grabaciones de estudio, su energía, voces y originalidad te pondrán una sonrisa o te harán suspirar con sus baladas. Hay demasiadas cosas por recomendar, es una biblioteca de 14 años de álbumes en grupo y en solitario, así que mucha suerte, se paciente, curiosa y disfruta mucho!!!

When I checked him out I was surprised that he was an idol, not a full-time actor, because his acting was seriously so good. I'm'm a new Shawol and I agree with the comments that SHINee are really great at live performances. I became a full-fledged fan after watching their Japanese concerts last January.
