You might like this story: My father did some visual FX on ED2, so I already knew about Rami and Campbell powerhouse and loved it. My brother and I were at the Burbank mall. Just outside the AMC, there was a dude with a clipboard who stopped us and asked if we wanted to see a free movie. I asked what it was. He said it was called Army of Darkness. I asked what it was about. The instant he said it was a sequel to Evil Dead 2, we both freaked the eff out. A couple of weeks later, we were in the theater, waiting for the movie to start. We were teenagers and surrounded by other teens and yound 20s. I think I was 16 years old. I noticed my brother, who is younger and smaller than me, said the guy behind him was kicking his chair. I turned around and politely asked him to stop. I have no idea what was wrong with this kid. He kept doing it. I stood up and told him if he didn't stop, I'd make him stop. Usher came over and asked what was up. I told him. Even the usher said, "what are you doing? Look at the size of this guy. I'd stop messing around if I were you." Ahhhh....those were better days. So yeah, I got to see AoD with the original ending where he sleeps too long, as a free screening, and I almost in a fight. Now, of course they want you to stick around after to fill out a questionnaire. I liked the original ending, however, I'm a dumb ED fanboy. I like it all. I'm assuming I was one of very few who did since we got the S-Mart ending instead. Of course, I had to marry someone who is an even bigger ED fan than I am. I got the Scream Factory super edition with the pins and posters and all the swag. It came yesterday, so I haven't inspected it yet. It can go next to our Boomstick Edition of ED 1 & 2 & A v ED. Watch nobody read this.

Picked up the steelbook up on day one. Normally I don't get steelbooks but i snagged it here in Canada for only 5 bucks more than the regular 4k. Looking forward to watching it.

I can’t bro.. but I’m glad you snagged a copy. I liked the steelbook but they get damaged so easily. My fright night steelbook came in horrible condition. Unless it’s lionsgate with a slip I skip them.

This is personally my favorite movie of the trilogy and I have been hoping for years for it to come to 4K, and I'm so glad it finally has! I've got the steelbook pre-ordered, hopefully it will come in soon (and yeah, it is a shame that we couldn't get ALL the cuts in the same great 4K quality, like with the Apocalypse Now 4K set, however it is more understandable in this case that the source elements for the other cuts probably aren't all in the best shape/quality to be able to make a 4k version of those, plus it would be waayyy more expensive for a smaller company like Shout/Scream Factory)

I got this movie too on 4K bro and I still have to get the first 2 Evil Dead movies on 4K and I’m gonna wait to get them in double feature pack on 11/1 and I just can’t wait to have them all on 4K

I highly recommend the Boomstick edition. It has ED 1 & 2 as well as A vs ED on 4k and bluray. It's in a beautiful box as well.

Yeah that's always been there because it was on the lens but they didn't clean up the rest of the film. Lots of scratches and white and black specks throughout the whole film. The pit, the witch, the graveyard and the death cart were the most problematic scenes.

I decided to pass on the steelbook because of the artwork. The original cover is absolutely iconic, whereas the steelbook looks like fan art to me.

I got mine directly from Scream Factory because I had to have that poster! Plus Scream does a great job with packaging, where as Amazon seems hell bent to damage all collectibles. You know, records in a plastic bag, steelbooks in a plastic bag, I bet they get their plastic bags from a plastic bag! Losers..

If you have a receiver with DTSx it'll upmix and does a really really good job on it

Of course upmixing is an option. When I review the audio, I base it on the true audio source without factoring upmixing.

Ehhh I didn't think it did a great job. The thunder and lightning strikes should have been up in the heights but they were missing. The only time I really noticed the heights was the sound of the fluorescent lights flickering at S-Mart at the end. Not enough bass either.

It mostly likes decent but there's a bunch of scratches and white specks throughout the movie. Top right of the screen with the crowd reactions in the pit and when he's getting beat up by skeletons from underneath the grave. I also spotted a round blotch in the first 15 minutes of the film on the right side. Really needed an atmos mix and more bass too. Pretty disappointed with this release. Should have been handled better.

Got the Slipcover and I'm very disappointed in the packaging, the Disc's won't stay locked in the holders, the plastic is so thin and flimsy it's transparent and there's no reversible artwork, Scream Factory is getting lazy and cheap. Hell, all these Boutique distributors have been dropping the ball in one way or the other with these 4k releases that there beginning to not to be worth the prices they charge anymore.

Is there ever a time when these Shout/Scream factory 4k releases drop in price say below $20 bucks? Or should I just grab them where they normally sit which seems to be around $25-$30?

I rarely see them with a bigger discount than $5 except now and then when they seem to just trying to clear remaining inventory years down the line. It has been a few bucks off at Amazon lately.
