ARMY OF DARKNESS was freaking hilarious🤣Ash's one-liners throughout this movie had me dying of laughter😂The visual effects (stop motion, practical effects, makeup effects) were awesome! Seeing evil Ash be born was probably my favorite set of scenes---watching Ash get antagonized by a copy of himself was too funny😄I really enjoyed this movie and I really hope you guys enjoy my reaction😁HAIL TO THE KING BABY👑

Ash is one the big ones Duke Nukem stole his one-liners from. While there may not have been new movies for a long while, he's been hanging out in the comics, crossing paths with Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees or Marvel zombies.

The "Ash vs. The Evil Dead" series is a great follow up to this, and concludes the Ash storyline, wonderfully. Fun fact: the magic words Ash is supposed to speak are the same alien words used in "The Day the Earth Stood Still." It was Sam Raimi's little homage to another classic. Also, Ted Raimi, who you spotted in the S-Mart also appeared as one of the villagers in the past, and played "Henrietta" from the basement, in "Evil Dead II."

Fun Facts: Bruce Campbell's wife did all the costumes for this movie Most of the skeleton deadites are voiced by Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Ted Raimi. Ted plays multiple roles in the film, he is the S-Mart employee at the end and you'll remember him from the Spider- Man trilogy as Jameson's assistant. He was also the Henrietta deadite in Evil Dead II. When Evil Ash turns into a skeleton his voice changes to Sam Raimi instead of Bruce. Bruce also said that during the "goody little two shoes" bit as evil Ash that he was doing a bad Sam Raimi impression 🤣

When I saw this back in the 90's (here in England) it had a TOTALLY different ending. It wasn't until I got the DVD that I saw the original, heroic ending. The alternative ending is alot darker! Glad you enjoyed it. This trilogy is indeed 'groovy'.

The darker ending IS the original, director's intended ending. But it was too dark for the publisher, so Sam Raimi had to shoot another, happier ending. I like the darker ending more, but the happier fits more to the awesome Ash vs Evil Dead series.

The original ending, the "dark" one, was to be for a fourth part, where Ash fought the deadites in the future, and looked to return to his time with a time machine. In the end, the idea was discarded, and was only covered in a few comics.

I'm so glad you watched the original 1992 theatrical version of Army of Darkness with the theatrical ending. The Director's Cut contains the original ending that was seen in the European release. The original cliffhanger ending with Ash ending up in a post-apocalyptic world would only have worked if Sam Raimi had the chance to make a fourth Evil Dead movie, but Raimi and the studio wisely decided on the newer ending that provided closure knowing that the possibility of a fourth movie was uncertain, and they were proven correct. Plus, the Ash vs. Evil Dead series picks up where the theatrical version leaves off.

You will absolutely love Ash vs Evil Dead, it's the ultimate mix of everything that was great in the movies, just condensed and intensified, has all the gore of the first 2 with all the sassy dialog, humor and Ash being Ash that the 3rd film had. Speaking of Bruce Campbell, if you get the chance, watch Jack of All Trades and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. both series are a ton of fun with great ensemble casts and some epic guests along the way. For the more serious side but still plenty of jokes and fun, also have to recommend Burn Notice, a spy, drama series he co-stars in that was very well done and also has a great cast. And lastly, 2 other films with Bruce you have to watch at some point, Bubba Ho-Tep where he stars alongside the late great Ossie Davis, in a film that defies explanation and the incredibly meta, My Name is Bruce, which is full of Evil Dead references and perfect for every fan of the franchise.

When I was a kid, one of the most entertaining, creative TV series starred Bruce Campbell. A kind of modern version of "The Wild, Wild West," it was a combination (get this) western, comedy, science-fiction. It was called "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." Created by Jeffrey Boam and Carlton Cuse, who scripted "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," the show lasted only one season, but showcased handsome Campbell in a still-campy, but more serious venue, which didn't require him to make over-the-top faces in ridiculous situations. It was so much fun, but most younger people have never heard of it. I always felt, after watching it, that Campbell really deserved more of a leading-man status enjoyed by "bigger" leading-man stars.

The 1997 DOS game Blood has several references to the Evil Dead movies. At the start of the game, your character says "I live... Again." At the end of the fourth normal episode, he says "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun." A common nuisance enemy in the game is a disembodied hand that says "I'll swallow your soul!" And there are mirrors in some levels, that if broken, will unleash a bunch of mini-versions of your character.

The 90's Hercules series was once apart of a random rotation of sci-fi or fantasy shows. It was called "Action Pack" and one of the series was Hercules. It eventually got it's own separate series once it became popular. There were a few other series that never made it though. Xena is just a spin-off of Hercules. I don't really think there is any inspiration from Army of Darkness, just similarities that most stuff in the 90's had.

Why is he working at S-Mart?!" ~Rich Evans 26:30 Why do you suppose he said "21st" instead of "20th?" I think it's canon that the events of the first two movies take place in 1982, plus AoD came out in 1992, so in either case, it's still the 20th century. 31:25 "Hey, kids! It's TED Raimi!" (applause) He played the Henrietta Deadite in ED2. 32:47 (standoffish)

In each Evil Dead film, Ash's gf Linda is played by a distinctly different actress. In this installment, we only get a cameo of Linda, played by Bridget Fonda. The actor you mentioned, who played two roles in this film, is director Sam Raimi's brother Ted (SeaQuest, Xena). Also, you may want to check out another Bruce Campbell adventure, "Bubba Ho-Tep." It has to be seen to be believed.

That guy Ash was talking to, the one you commented on, was played by Ted Raimi, brother and regular supporting actor in Sam Raimi's movies. The car is also in pretty much every movie Sam Raimi makes. I'm KINDA disappointed it didn't have the original ending, though. The one where Ash drinks one drop too many of the liquid and wakes up a century too late.

The "Ash vs Evil Dead" series takes place 30 years after the 3 movies. It's got 3 seasons and it's a good time to watch even if it's in personal time and not for content.

2:04 It was also lots more bloodier, but this movies goes more for a goofy, slapstick feel than horror. 23:34 Of course it's stop-motion. And if you want more of that, you can check out pretty much anything from Ray Harryhausen, especially Jason and the Argonauts for some spooky skeletons like these. 29:23 Indeed, but combined with live footage of Bruce Campbell shadow-fighting. Again, stuff Ray Harryhausen was all about.

Hey Laurenn, "A.o.D." is one of the funniest horror/comedies of all time! The numerous, quotable one-liners are unforgettable! I'd like to toss in some suggestions for a possible review somewhere in the future. Two are horror comedies and the others are just plain scary😄: "Dead Heat" (1988) "Dead Alive" (a.k.a. "Braindead" - 1992; be sure to watch the 'UNRATED' version!) Constantine (2005) "IT! - Chapter 1" (2017) & "Chapter 2" (2019) "The Invisible Man" (2020). Keep up the great reactions! I'm thoroughly loving them! 📽❤️

Klaatu Barada Nikto It's from the day the Earth stood. Still. There are references to it in several things including Star Wars, Tron and probably most famously the army of Darkness.

I love this movie so much. I watched it when i was 9 years old and i still love it. I love horror and horror/comedy movies (for me) is a special kind of comedy. If you are into the joke you will laugh with the movie, if not you are not getting the joke you are not gonna get it. Laurenn, you should do a female Ash cosplay. That would be awesome! As always, keep doing what you are doing and i will always watch. As Ash would say: "Groovy."

The tiny Ashes are a reference to the Gulliver's Travels and the Lilliputs, who are a race of tiny humanoid creatures. This movie borrows a lot from classic fairy tales and turns them into horror elements.
