I think I have learnt more about the US civil war from this channel than from school.

@@TheBelrick The whole point of the war initially was to challenge the line of thought that states could leave the Union when they felt like they weren't being represented. In that case and POV, it can easily be seen as a Civil War, since whichever side wins technically sets the precedent and therefore the 'ideology'. The Union would effectively cease being a country, instead being a loose collection of independent states, and by looking back nearly 90 years(from 1860), we can see how well the Articles of Confederation worked out. Also, the official definition of a "Civil War" under the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is a, "a war between opposing groups of citizens of the same country", which perfectly encompasses the American Civil War. If you want to call it a War for Independence, at least be truthful enough to admit that Independence was the goal for the Civil War, not outright denying it.
@1Fye3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBelrick They weren't sovereign states. That was the point of the war to being with, like I said. I'm not sure how you can argue with an official definition in any way, and the examples you provided are in no way compliant with what the word entails. I'm sure you would certainly like to spread the idea of the Lost Cause, but it is wrong and is pretty much denied by any credible source out there. Again, I would respect your argument much more if you were honest with the intent, but it's clear you are not.
@1Fye3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBelrick And anyway, the equivalent you provided about Germany and France invading the UK for leaving the EU makes no sense. All 3 independent countries agreed to be apart of the seemingly mutual beneficial alliance(fiscally, militarily, etc.), nowhere in the agreement does it bind them together as one state. This is totally different from the United States whom is a collection of territories provided local governments by an over arching and overseeing central entity. The agreement of the Constitution bound all states to this central body, thereby making it one sovereign country, not a collection of sovereign states.
@1Fye3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBelrick You sir, are the one who is using faulty evidence. It’s funny you directly quoted the Articles of Confederation, something I addressed in my first reply to you. The Articles of Confederation were nullified completely in 1787, as I said, nearly 75(I made a mistake in saying 90 earlier) years before the Civil War. Quoting something as old and irrelevant as something that is no longer in effect even by the time we are debating doesn’t change my argument at all, nor does it improve yours.
@TheHistoryGuy3 жыл бұрын
You can argue about the use of the term "Civil War" all you want but it's ridiculous to insult others as uneducated for using the term. High command on both sides of the conflict (Lincoln, Davis, Grant, Lee. Sherman, Forrest, etc) all referred to it as such.

Cool stuff. I was thinking that the recruitment terms might make a difference as far as unit combination for replacement purposes. Say you have a 24 month unit from NY and you use it to fill out a 36 month unit from NJ? Question my guy, new to the game. What exactly is the purpose of an Army vs Corps? With the Army leader being a singular unit no longer leading a Corp what is his purpose? Do I keep him near a Corps so he can enter battle with the Corps or is he just an administrative role now? Id like to make Grant the leader of my newly created army but then he isnt leading his core anymore directly?

The army is the soldier in charge of the army. Then they divide up the soldiers into groups for easier command and control. So in the gulf War General Powell was chief of staff who sent orders to General Schwarzkopf in charge of us forces in desert storm. The other commanders report to him.

I just started playing this game today and my first impressions is the strategy level is cool but when you get down to the tactical level it isn't that great compared to Ultimate Civil War battle. Aesthetically Ultimate Civil War is so much better and doing manuevers of flanking charging and changing formatio s is so much easier. Ultimate Civil War falls short though at the a Stragey level. I reckon the two gaming companies should collaborate with on side doing the battles and the other doing the strategy level.

Oh man, this looks SO obvious when you say it ! Thank you ! On a completely unrelated topic, what do you think of skirmishers ? I'm under the impression they're currently overpowered (and / or the IA really struggles to deal with them). I'm playing with bonus+20 and agressivness 3, and they're doing most of the work. As an example I just won a battle (17k men on each side) with only my 6 skirmishers units firing shots (so 178 casualties for me, around 1700 and 4 routed brigades for the IA), and that's not the first one
@marinewillis12024 жыл бұрын
@@BCKS55 i think they are OP atm. They can literally hold the line as long as brigades especially if you tell them to get in a loose formation. I think once its all said and done they are going to be alot like ones in UGCW especially for the south since you will be outnumbered and need them to fill gaps in the line or slow an enemy down while you build some breastworks to negate the numerical advantage.

I have a question about recruting. In my game, i am building an army in Georgia using only Georgian men. However, there seemes to be a big jump in the time needed for the soldiers to get ro my army every time i recruit more of them at the same time. So, when i add 1 brigade to a division, it takes 7 days for them to get to the army, if i, however, add another brigade while the 1st brigade is still en route to my army, the 2nd brigade will take 11 days, if i add another one on top of those 2 brigades, it will take the 3rd brigade 20 days to get to my army, the 4th will then take 40 days etc. The time seemes to increase the more brigades i train at the same time. Am i doing something wrong or is this the way it is ment to be?
@TheHistoryGuy3 жыл бұрын
That's how it is meant to be. You want to recruit from different states so it doesn't stack up like that
@socio-historian73373 жыл бұрын
@@TheHistoryGuy So if i understand this right, I should use my army of Georgia to train recruits from South Carolina, Florida etc. along with the Georgians i am training? Wouldn't that realisticly take more time as the soldiers would need to travel from those states to Georgia? What i had planed was to create an army in each state, recruit only the men from the state an army was in and then combine those men with other state armies to create 3 main armies. I think that that would have been the most realistic thing to do for i doubt that a brigade from Dallas would reach Atlanta before a brigade from Savvanah.
