National Guard and Reserves deploy for the same lengths that active duty do, and for the past decade, almost as rapidly as the active component does (especially for certain job codes). He is a SGM too, so he's going for sure. - signed, former active duty SGT, Army.

I have such great respect for military family's strengths... my dad was in the Navy when I was a baby, I'm just thankful that he decided to quit because he couldn't handle me crying because of me not knowing who he was after he was gone for a while.

I had an experience like this but with my older brother. I live in Louisiana USA and my big brother was stationed in Japan and we weren't scheduled to see him for about nine months. And my three nieces as well. Well they called us from "Japan" and wished us a merry Christmas and we said good bye. Five minutes later they knocked on the front door and gave us the surprise of a lifetime it was so amazing. I can't even describe the happiness that I felt.
