@briansmith6948, I remember the moment I saw you. Moments before we had been attacked, I heard your voice greet me. When they restored the power and connected the voice to the person, I was stunned, dropped all my professional demeanor, and hugged you. You were the closest thing to home in that small interaction, and I did not want to let you go. Thank you for showing up.

Brother I served with the 101st in Sinjar. So grateful you had the balls to go help those people. I've been on top of that mountain many times myself. I was too busy killing myself with drugs and alcohol to go back over and help those people. I'm ashamed to say the least. I haven't cried like this in so long.

Brother, You have nothing to be ashamed of. You did your part voluntarily. You are part of a small group, a community that makes up less than 1/3 of 1 % of America, and we share this rock hurtling through space. You earned your freedom and now live your life. Everyone has made mistakes; no one is perfect. The only perfect man died on the cross. So live your life. We are solid, Brothers!

There's a fine line between being a badass and a dirtbag, the line gets crossed often based on mission set or absence thereof. Going into when Harry went to Columbia and all that, I wonder if he gets judged by telling that part of his story. It's important for the world to know that there are dudes like Harry out there who will stay out on the razor's edge and maneuver and slip through policy to stay in the fight. When that gets taken away, you have a real problem on your hands. Nothing but big respect for this man. Much of his story is relatable, particularly the moments of self-destructive behavior. Amazing story. It's beyond a movie, it's a legend.

He might know about the incident where the taliban dressed up like us army and detonated a vbied at the gate at bagram and then while the guys were dealing with that the taliban cut the wire at a different place on bagram and ran in. This was like March or April 2010 I think.
@harrymartinez45552 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly, the incident occurred in May; I could be wrong. The internal defense of Bagram was brilliant. The defense was compartmentalized inside and was delineated by Alaskan barriers, so when the Taliban entered the base, they were like rats in a maze, and units went to their walls to defend their little spot. Most of the Taliban were killed by helo attack pilots doing gun runs on the INSIDE of Bagram. The only casualty that stands out is the LT who pursued them out of Bagram through the enemy’s breach point and lost his foot to a mine. There is footage of this incident.
