One of the best men I knew was a tunnel rat who never recovered. He came home with the tunnels. He was only good with us kids and he loved playing with us. It reminded him of more simple times. I loved him. He was dangerous because of flashbacks but never with us kids. I tried to spend time with him every chance I got as a kid. Poor man never overcame what he saw in those tunnels. Those tunnels took his life long before the he passed away.

I was still in school getting ready to graduate. Went in the Army at 19. 'Nam was winding down. That's why I'm only a 'Nam Era Vet, not a 'Nam Vet. You, Sir, are a Hero.

That vet Bob gave the best insight as to what the overall picture of tunnel warfare and what to expect from our enemy's. It's people like Bob who are the backbone of our country.

Bravery is a phenomenal function of war, listening to this warrior describe what it takes to combat the inhuman tactics used by those who hold values so foreign to those of us who hold life dear. Even after listening to his descriptions of the conditions faced by so many who gave the ultimate sacrifice don’t tell me PTSD isn’t a thing. It would require superhuman strength to live with the memories that these men now live with…

I saw this live when it aired and the first thing that I noticed was Jesse did not interrupt him with any questions he let him tell his story without pause until he was done and it even seemed like Jesse was tearing up a little much respect to Jesse for letting him tell his story and even more respect to Bob Stewart for telling it you ARE a hero sir

OMFG!!! How this gentleman, from what he describes, is mentally coherent at all is beyond belief. I am approaching PTSD just by association, by hearing this! My father was a Vietnam vet, twice deployed, and was never willing or able to voice his experience, suffered extremely and died of agent orange related complications. Another hero among many.
