One of the best men I knew was a tunnel rat who never recovered. He came home with the tunnels. He was only good with us kids and he loved playing with us. It reminded him of more simple times. I loved him. He was dangerous because of flashbacks but never with us kids. I tried to spend time with him every chance I got as a kid. Poor man never overcame what he saw in those tunnels. Those tunnels took his life long before the he passed away.

Praying for Bob. My brother is a Vietnam vet. When he left he was a fun filled teenager who came home and has never been the same. Just recently started counseling. To him it was unmanly and weak. Please encourage anyone who has gone through the trauma of war to talk and release the pain. I pray for everyone who has ever sacrificed their lives for our country.

Fortunately for me, I was 6'2", 220lbs, when I was in Viet Nam with the Marines. I was too big to enter the tunnels, but I knew several Marines that did. My heart and respect goes to them.

Maybe all those guys were vets , i dont know . But , i knew of William Giles from him speaking to my high school class in his uniform and medals , and we knew he had been a tunnel rat . So yeah , gigging on the West side of Chicago , deep dish active neighborhoods , he was calm as Buddha , and gave a lot of confidence and calm in the middle ih frenetic street action . I learn from a guy like that. William Giles , Viet Nam decorated vet , tunnel rat. I dont know if your statement was meant as good or flipant, but William Giles was a real man

I come from three generations of Marines, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. They’ve all passed away now when I got out of high school in the early 70s I thought I was going to down and enlist in the Marines. But after how my brother came home to the derelicts, who greeted him my father said no more. And I knew men that were tunnel rats that I worked with they were always on edge. I salute this man and pray for the Israelis that they have learned from us how to deal with these terrorists

Thanks Jesse so much. I have spoken with so many Vietnam Vets who came back home, and were treated like crap. That was a very difficult war. I deeply honor them all. And tell them how much they shaped many of us American kids in the late 60s and early 70s Lives. They were our heroes. God bless any man who goes into a war in a country they know nothing about. Thank you for your service sir. My father was a veteran of WWII, landed at Utah Beach, fought in so many Campaigns, Battle of The Bulge, and was wounded near Belgium when he and his buddy tossed a coin to see who would go back for ammo. My dad lost and as soon as he got out of the foxhole a mortar shell landed in the foxhole killing his friend and wounding my dad. My dad earned Purple Heart, Bronze Medal, and Silver Medal, among just a few and although I thought my dad was a hero, he never did!

I saw this live when it aired and the first thing that I noticed was Jesse did not interrupt him with any questions he let him tell his story without pause until he was done and it even seemed like Jesse was tearing up a little much respect to Jesse for letting him tell his story and even more respect to Bob Stewart for telling it you ARE a hero sir

We all salute you Bob, 63 years old and my father in danang Vietnam 68-69 came home but never quite the same, we'd watch the news every night and hope we didn't hear his name 🙏

OMFG!!! How this gentleman, from what he describes, is mentally coherent at all is beyond belief. I am approaching PTSD just by association, by hearing this! My father was a Vietnam vet, twice deployed, and was never willing or able to voice his experience, suffered extremely and died of agent orange related complications. Another hero among many.
