The fact that Arne lost only one game in 2024 is simply amazing. I was impressed by his communication and analytical/tactical skills at his time at Feyenoord. When he joined talkshows (rondo) about football, the way he talks about the game you see the likes of Marco van Basten en Ruud Gullit became impressed. I saw the same at Keane, Neville etc. In that last half year at Feyenoord he draw two times against Roma (EL, lost with penals), win at home and a draw away against PSV, 6-0 win at home Ajax (highest ever, in 2023 the away game was 0-4), he wins the cup final. And this last half year at Liverpool, wow, nothing but respect for Arne!!!

A center-back in January has to be top priority now with Gomez injury. And I suspect they will sign a defensive-minded midfielder given that they’ve been eyeing one for some time and only reason they didn’t buy in the summer was because Zubimendi unexpectedly turned them down. A new left-back is also due soon but I’d rather they buy someone they’re really sure about is right, even if that is in the summer, than rush someone in during the January window.

Guess they could wait till the summer for that too, but I don’t think Endo fits any longer term plans. What I also don’t see is the urgent need for a left-back. Eventually sure, Robertson is declining, but not now. Our biggest weaknesses for the second half will be injuries to more than one center-back and overplaying Gravenberch.
