Sharing with you guys my first ever live performance with my band JOURNEY, this was in Chile back in 2008.
This takes me back to the time when every nerve in my body felt numb, with all the excitement and of course the chance to prove that I deserve to be the frontman of one of the world's most successful rock bands.

I watched one of Arnel PINEDA’s interviews where he stated the American public was very cruel and criticized him that he almost walked away. But Journey band members supported him and made sure he was alright. I grew up with Steve Perry, and was in love with him in the 80’s. But Steve walked away from the band because it was not life he wanted for himself… and now we have Arnel to continue Journey’s music. We should be thankful that we can still see Journey in concerts.

When I was in the Philippines back in May 2022 me and my Filipina had a kerioke party and when a journey song came on there was 200 Filipinos in the street singing every word. It sounded so well it gave me goosebumps and made me cry. The people have so much passion and love for journey. They treated me like family and now I have a huge Filipino family back home in the Philippines. I will always love the Philippines and can't wait to finally move there

JOURNEY just came to Birmingham 2 weeks ago..02/15/2024. I had no idea who replaced Steve Perry. OMG! I was completely blown away when I saw Arnel and heard him sing!! His voice was phenomonal!!🥰! Sounded just as good as Steve Perry! My daughter bought us tickets for Christmas. She asked me how old I thought he was...I told her 25. She said "No mom, he's 56!! Arnell was what Neal was looking for… a Perry replacement, but they had a powerhouse singer in Jeff Scott Soto. I really think they gave up on him way too quickly. With Deen also in the band they could have done some exciting new things with that duo. Arnell is a great singer though and fits perfectly no doubt.

I am 78 with seven children, through the years I heard all kinds of music, but I liked country. In 2006 my husband died and in 08 I call my second of seven who is then 40 what was her favorite band in high school. She says Journey, since I have time I look them up learn their background then I found you were now with them, so I learned everything I could about and prayed for you cause you touched my heart! in 2013 you were in Kinder La at Coushatta Casino my daughter bought tickets and even though they were kind of not so good on your left in bleachers almost in the corner I enjoyed every minute of it! My youngest bought me your CD and one day it was blasting away and teenage grandson says wow mimi I love the song! you are cool, mimi! yup too cool to be called grandma!! Blessings for the new year!!!! I was born in 1984, when the success that came with Steve Perry was starting to go away. I grew up with the voice of Steve on the radio, listening to the good old days songs. I'm an 90´s kid (in terms of music taste), but with a strong 70´s and 80's influence. Journey has been part of my life since I can remember. That night in Chile was like a fire reviving in mi heart. For me, Journey was "a band from mi childhood" that acompanied me through the years. With you on the lead voice, I was now certain that good old times made it through the years, and one of my favourite bands was back and very alive. You´re welcome in Chile anytime you want.

Hello Arnel! I had the opportunity to be there with my brother. I'm from Chile, born and raised in Viña del Mar. My musical tastes completely changed that night. lets say all the former lead singers are very good singers. but Arnel came in with package, his charisma was able to reach out to all ages , all level , to bring them to watch their show. the band were surprise and happy that the crowd compose of the very young and the not so young. . to be able to sing is not enough. to be able to connect with the audience is the most important. he got the killer smile. when he sings. he really look into the audience and not up . his voice is thick and brilliant . this is like in a sales department, the manager wants to know how much sales can the new applicant bring in for the company. . in the case of Arnel , the picture or the video of the audience speaks for itself. this is best guy Journey is lucky to have .

Yeah Steve Perry isnt just good bro, he is literally thee greatest Rock Singer of all time... Arnel is not close. And thats not a dig at Arnel. Arnel has done a fantastic job imitating Perry, but to mimic Perry's range and strength of voice is just not possible.

@alanmckenzie3228 Honestly, Arnel doesn't even sound much like Steve Perry at all when he is using his real voice. His impersonation is great tho. But if you listen to his early stuff when he wasn't doing Journey covers, he had his own unique voice. TBH, I think him impersonating Steve has been a blessing and a curse. Mimicking Steve had taken a huge toll on his voice. Even Steve's voice deteriorated a lot by 2010. That style of singing is super demanding. I feel like Arnel should have done a few years with Journey, then went fully solo to preserve his voice and gain his own identity.

Totally agree. Arnel Pineda's mission is to continue the legacy of The Journey. Of course, Steve Perry has been a strong mover that catapulted The Journey to fame and glory until he left in 2006. Then in 2007, The Journey c/o Neil Schon discovered Arnel thru a YT video...and, as they say, the rest is history. When Arnel was hired, the band filled the lead vocalist they badly needed. And so, the band proceeded with extensive American and international tours/concerts. In fact, Arnel became the longest lead vocalist of The Journey ever.
